The difference between Free Republic and DU can be shown here:

What we have long discussions about

versus

What they talk about.

Yeah, we bash O'Reilly, but they don't seem to have any, uh, gravitas do they?

2. WTF
"The movie reminds us that in addition to hot, young, blonde infobabes, conservatives have an almost total monopoly on humor. Other than Harry Shearer and Stan Freberg, can you think of any funny leftists?"

WTF.

SERIOUSLY.

Hey freepers, Ann Coulter isn't hot or young. Nor is she a babe. Nor are there any funny conservatives. Except Kelsey Grammar. But only because he plays a liberal on TV.

4. They're fairly limited....................
It's unfortunate, but they really do represent the "just smart enough to get by on their inherited advantage" part of the population. That is a fairly sizable chunk of the US Population.

12. I swear to god...
I looked long and hard for "gravitas" on their site, and was amazed that I could find none. Nada. Zilch. Zippo.

Then I when to which posts were most discussed- this one was the prize winner in what I found most recently posted.

I'm not trying to blow our horns too much, but christ, they're boring.

And I should also point out, we cover more news in our forums.

I guess it's their xenophobia.

6. Can they really say that Matt Stone and Trey Parker are Cons??
Seriously, I am going to watch that movie first think on Friday, but I don't think it will be some conservative love fest. I think just the general theme overall is going to cut on the war in iraq, war on terrorism, ect.

8. I think this is another false claim. I find South Park a hoot and
everytime I have watched it, they have trashed bush. I don't think they are "lefty" but they really don't like Bush. Sigh. Poor repugs. No decent celebrity likes them!

Question: Well, in parting, do you have a special message for all those undecided voters out there?

Stone: Stay home.

Parker: Don't vote!

Stone: And it's no big deal. If you don't want to vote, you don't have to. Fuck that vote or die shit. I hate that.

Also read Sean Penn's reply to them. Spot on.

15. I doubt many of them have watched South Park
It's definitely not conservative, then again I can't say it's liberal. I think they just make fun of everything that someone might think is important. They like to point out that there is more than one point of view so don't try to impose yours on everyone and that people over-react to stuff that isn't that important. If they are expecting a freeper horray for the president fest, they will be disappointed.

7. Interesting that they can't find any comedians or cinematic artists
that have any talent that are Bushies. Claiming Tarentiono took balls . I wondered how long it would take them to point out their error. As for the comedians ,"no funny lefties'? I guess they don't watch the Daily Show! And notice no one mentioned Dennis Miller on their side. Chuckle!

10. Here's a meme to get started:
There isn't much of a market for Conservative entertainment. F 9/11 has done so well because most Americans are liberal. Liberal just sells better.

about "hot scenes". They are f'in puppets for shits sake:

I
To: Apolitical
I bet all the HOT scenes taken out at MPAA insistence get put back in next year in in the Director's Cut DVD Edition. No you won't miss anything even in the bowdlerized version. Its still a hoot.

17. Look, I don't know diddly about the French Deconstructionist...
...and although I'm no anti-intellectual, to smugly proclaim that we are somehow better because some of us like to have long discussions about obscure intellectuals is the kind of snobbishness I can do without.

There have been several discussions about the crappy movie here at DU, and I wouldn't be surprised if there are a few freepers who can keep up threads about Ayn Rand's writings. So what?

I'm a liberal because I want a society that treats all its members as fairly as possible and treats the least of us with some decency and compassion, not because I want to lord over others how terribly clever I am. I am college-educated, but didn't get to study Derridas. I had to get a job and take care of my kids, so I sure as hell haven't had time to bone up on philosophy since I got my BA. It's all I can do just to keep reasonably informed on current events so I can vote in a reasonably informed way.

I'm very happy for those of us who've had the privilege of a lot of education, and a lot of time for individual learning, but there are MILLIONS of us who haven't had that luxury, and whether they are union factory workers or 7-11 clerks, they are where MY sympathies lie.

Anyway go have a latté and be smug if it makes you feel better about yourself. It's a free country.

18. Hey, don't take offense...
I too, want a society that treats all its members as fairly as possible and treats the least of us with some decency and compassion; and that's why I try to keep educating myself.

Evidently many folks here, do too.

But also evidently, freepers by and large don't.
