Study: 1 in 100 Adults Asexual
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 12:58 PM by Jack_Dawson
Huh?

LONDON, England (CNN) -- About one percent of adults have absolutely no interest in sex, according to a new study, and that distinction is becoming one of pride among many asexuals.

The new study was conducted by Anthony Bogaert, a psychologist and human sexuality expert at Brock University in St. Catherines, Ontario.

It was published in the latest issue of The Journal of Sex Research and is the focus of a report in this Saturday's issue of New Scientist.

Bogaert's analysis looked at responses to another study in Britain, published in 1994. That study was based on interviews of 18,000 people about their sexual practices.

1. The Bounty.....
"I am sir, more normal than a man who has no passions to restrain!"

The British Navy could have used some of these asex types.

2. umm
"If asexuality is indeed a form of sexual orientation, perhaps it will not be long before the issue of 'A' pride starts attracting more attention," New Scientist says.

Activists have already started campaigning to promote awareness and acceptance of asexuality, it reports.

Are these people serious? Who would discriminate against an "asexual?" Then again, if we consider what happened to Michael Jackson...

4. Read Dan Savage this week
He's in the Onion AV club. The first letter is from an asexual; it's pretty disturbing. Dan nailed the response as usual.

9. I think that asexuality is the least of that guy's problems.
That guy sounded like a budding psycho killer to me. Maybe I should read it again but I got the creeps from that letter.

11. The guy was sick
But it's hard for me to imagine an "asexual" who isn't sick--post-traumatic or else physically ill somehow. I understand that SEXUALITY comes in every flavor, but the lack of any desire to get off is the sign of a person who is not healthy.

14. I got to flirt with him once.
He was in town for a gay and lesbian pride festival and he came into the bookstore I worked in at the time. We chatted a little, I asked him how "the kid" was and we had a little "moment". Too bad he's not single.

6. Maybe we should amend the Constitution to force them to have
sex, anything less would be un-natural. </sarcasm>
