Freeper writes open letter to Kerry's children
If Kerry gets elected, what are these people going to do? The level of hate and rage I see coming from the wingnuts is frightening. They really believe all their outlandish lies.

""Who Do You Love??"
----Ellis McDaniels (I prefer the Doors version)

A few days ago I went to a funeral. A fellow Vietnam Vet had passed away..(actually I believe he was taking refuge).

A Veteran who was killed, in the end, by all the hatred he had endured.

He had come back from Vietnam...and tried to put all he had seen and done behind him. He got married. Raised a family. 2 daughters and a son. Worked hard...and tried to make a difference in his community by being the best father he could...and he was a great example.

He tried to forget, and like the rest of us, come to terms with being labeled a .."..rapist...murderer...babykiller." He was doing fine (or at least everyone thought so)...until this year.

Then ....your father killed him.

True...your father did not put a gun to his head....or a knife in his belly.

But he killed him all the same.

Because, after all these years of trying to deal with those false charges your father used to start his climb up the political ladder, here he was again. Using Vietnam as a stepping stone to further his ambitions...his greed.

Because, after all these years, there was your father trying to make 4 months in Vietnam seem like a lifetime.

Because, after all these years, there was your father ( a man who deserted his Command...his men) trying to use his time in Vietnam....as a prop.

Because...my friend in the last few months of his life...worried himself to death. Worried that your father actually could get elected as President. That the one person in the world who made the lies about those who served in Vietnam....easy....could become the next 'Commander-in-Chief'.

Worried that your father would get elected....and do to my friends son (who is now proudly serving in the Army in Iraq)...what your father did to him.

Betray him.

Sometimes....it's as simple as that

===========================================

I have talked to almost 2,500 Vietnam Veterans in the past 8 months.( I keep track)

Not one has had a kind word to say about your father.

You may only know those who have been bribed (or coerced) to stand next to your father and sing his praise. But in the real world...most Vietnam Veterans have a feeling towards your father that borders on hate.

Go out and visit some of them. It may open your eyes.

Ask your father why he went to Vietnam.

Then ask those Veterans why they went.

Most will answer something along the lines of protecting their Country...and their families.

Your father has denigrated them....made the world think of them as murderers...rapists.

And he will do the same with those serving in Iraq.

But your father is wrong.

They went to...."To make the world safe...for little girls to play."

...and they deserve better than someone who has betrayed them...like your father.

Sometimes...it's as simple as that."

2. Oh man - this makes me see red
Bush has spilled enough blood to fill an ocean with his lies, while Kerry was trying to stop precisely such lie-fueled carnage. EOM.

3. Sounds like serious denial to me. They lash out at Kerry because
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 01:48 PM by lutherj
they don't want to face the reality that the horrors of the Vietnam war were just meaningless cruelties. This is exactly the kind of psychic anguish the vets had to endure that Kerry was talking about in his testimony to congress.

4. I have a lot of compassion for Vietnam Veterans
but the ones hating Kerry are living in denial. After all these years if they can't accept what really happened in Vietnam then the war really was a complete waste. As it stands now the only good that can come out of it is the wisdom that these veterans can share with others about how brutal war really is. Sadly, the Kerry-bashers seemed to have learned nothing.

5. The person who wrote that letter, and I use the term 'person' loosely,
is beyond coexistence in modern society: one who cannot reason, cannot see beyond his blind hatred for opposition to his own viewpoint and will use any convenient, albeit ridiculous, method to lash out at what he cannot come to terms with. However, if this person honestly believes the tripe he has written above, then I truly feel pity for him and am concerned about his state of mental health.

6. What a load of crap, crap, crap....it's putrid!
Capital P, Capital U, Capital TRID, PUTRID!!!

He hasn't talked to THIS Vietnam Veteran, and I have nothing but kind words to say for future legitimately-elected President Kerry.

And by the way, the fool needs to do some research: Kerry spent a one-year Naval tour in the Vietnam theatre prior to his four months with the Swift Boats. I believe that adds up to 16 months, or four months longer than I was there.

These freeper maniacs are going to choke on their own rage someday, and it can't come soon enough.

7. You can't win with these people, only respect them
I've tried to (respectfully) argue my point with people who were in service in Vietnam, but they will always see John Kerry as a traitor.

I didn't live through this era, but I can understand the sentiment. No one likes being accused of killing babies, and even if true, the soliders went into service young and naive with noble intentions. They were misused by the Administrations that presided over the Vietnam War.

I believe John Kerry's side of the story, because more than just one man came out with similar stories, such as Oliver Stone, Mi Lai, and the story on the Tiger Force. These things happened. And they weren't pretty. I think it is misplacement to hold Kerry accountable for testimonies from many other Vets who spoke up.

But, this author will never listen to reason. He's still too attached. Maybe he never personally experienced anything, but there were many others who did. There were THOUSANDS of soldiers in Vietnam and not all held the same experiences.

Because...my friend in the last few months of his life...worried himself to death. Worried that your father actually could get elected as President. That the one person in the world who made the lies about those who served in Vietnam....easy....could become the next 'Commander-in-Chief'.

But, what is the alternative for author? Electing Bush. The very man who seems to have us on the path to repeating the cultural climate of the 60s. Why do we care about Vietnam from 35 years ago when there is Iraq going on right now?

It seems to me that the author can't detach himself, and by not letting go of the past, he is unwittingly repeating the same terrible mistakes for the children of the next generation. It's an unfortunate cycle of hate.

Wouldn't John Kerry, the man who lived through Vietnam and came back to continue the fight as a citizen, be the most qualified man to figure out the Iraq mess?

Worried that your father would get elected....and do to my friends son (who is now proudly serving in the Army in Iraq)...what your father did to him.

Betray him.

Unfortunately, the author does not realize that the Bush Administration has already betrayed his friend's son. There were no Weapons of Mass Destruction, and that's what he was sent in there for. A lie. A mistake.

I hope everyone can come to an understanding and emotionally detach themselves to realize the truth, but I won't hold my breath.

8. So I guess My Lai was just a myth too?
How many more names did these imbeciles want on the Vietnam Memorial wall? Kerry wanted fewer.

10. I suspect those that committed atrocities are struggling to justify
their actions. As long as Kerry is in the news they will be trying to destroy him because that is the only way they can excuse their behavior. Those that acknowlege their behavior or the behavior of others that they witnessed seem to fully credit Kerry with doing the right thing by drawing attention to it. These people are suffering from PTSD and denial. They are filled with hatred of themselve and taking it out on Kerry who did nothing but try and help these guys. It is a sickness but I'm afraid there is no cure.
