My Stripes newspaper headline stopped traffic in the local German weinbau |
|
"Bush, Kerry trade barbs ahead of final debate."
A German coming out of the bathroom read the "Bush, Kerry," part, picked up the paper and showed his friends the headline at the table. They laughed, looked at me and said, struggling in English, "We want Kerry!" I said, "Ich auch! Kennedy war 'ein Berliner.' Bush ist ein catastrophe!" They laughed like hell in approval.
You'd be hard pressed to find a single German who wants Bush to win.

2. Yeah, well they had Hitler, so they know what we're facing |
|
Unless we can get our dictator out of office, we'll enjoy the same civil liberties that the Germans did under the Nazis.

I didn't know that about Bavaria.
Meine Urgrossmutter und Grossvater came from around Essen. Their last name was Rennscheidt. There's a town there called Remscheid. We're convinced that's originally where the name came from.
As I'm convinced granny would have said to Bush, shaking her finger, "Abba Abba!" FSC

8. That will come in handy if Bush wins |
|
and you should end up vacationing in Germany in the next four years.
When the need arises, say it like you mean it, otherwise, it would be best to claim UK citizenship, which is easy to get away with around here.
