Homeland Security (?) tries to get list of attendees at CA Bar Convention |
|
On Saturday morning in Monterey (CA), Steve Rohde, James J. Brosnaham (John Walker Lynn's attorney) and a couple of other speakers conducted a session called "Are you Any Safer? The Law and the War Against Terrorism Three Years Later." It was a great seminar - mostly about the unlawful detentions and USA-PATRIOT.
The two guys manning the sign-in table reported that a middle aged man in jeans and a green and yellow Hawaiian shirt and no bar credentials came to the table and demanded a list of those inside. When he was told there was none, he tried to take the sign-ins. The two guys refused to let him have them and he left.
The general suspicion was that he was NSA or Homeland Security and that he wanted to use the list to locate clients of the attorneys attending the seminar.

Steve is a wonderful speaker. It's too bad they didn't tape it.
