If you understand anything about the Christian religion you understand that God wants people to be slaves to HIM and in bondage to HIM. Otherwise why he say he is a jealous God and that we should have "no other gods before Him?" Why would he dole out the 10 commandments if he wanted people to be free? He understood that people should not be free becuase they would do the most abominable things. What has God been doing with the rest of the world that is not free? Why would Paul say that he was a "bond servant" to Jesus? OK funddies out there, give me your best shot about this. Anyone really belive that God has annointed Bush to set people free? He freed the Israelites from Egypt to be free of the Egyptians but not free. Certainly not free from Him. So please stop playing the clip of Bush saying that God wants people to be free. So the word "free" is an empty word out of context and without content. It is simple-minded and empty. Do the Afghans or Iraqis appear to be free to anyone?

1. Not A Fundie but..
I would say that Bush dosen't make anyone "free", that comes from God but the Afgans are MUCH more free now than they were. Also,With respect, you don't understand God and Christianity.Having "no other Gods" and obeying the commandments is showing your faith with how you live your life and showing your love for God.Like when Kerry said Faith without works is dead.Obeying God is a "deed or work",and without it faith is empty.Freedom from God is not a jewish or christian teaching, or goal.

3. Precisely what I mean.
Bush is really saying, "God wants people to have a democracy." If you think Americans are free, check out the Patriot Act. Freedom is relative. What is free for one people is not necesarily free to others. The absence of a recognizable dictator doesn't mean people are free. An election does not mean people are free. We don't recognize half of the countries that have elections as "free" if they don't choose a person we like. That's precisely why what Bush said is the most stupid thing a President could say. And it is equally stupid for anyone to claim what God wants.

2. God endorses slavery and subjugation of women
Personal liberty has never, not ever, been an ethic of the Bible. And, while many religious people today believe in liberty and civil rights, every struggle for independence and personal liberty have been fought by clerics and religious laypeople quoting the bible to support the status quo.
