4. I agree -- I expect it from a basically misogynst guy like Maher |
|
but not from DUers -- and in this case, apparently a FEMALE DUer.
:-(
And thank you for speaking up.

I would say a bunch of whiney spoiled brats.
(I have to constantly watch for the "girl" putdowns myself - my father is a great 78 year old liberal, but throughout my whole childhood he used "girl" word a putdown - it's hard to outgrow)

7. Why? We're not whiney little girls. |
|
Edited on Thu Oct-14-04 11:17 PM by devilgrrl
Whiney little girls end up like Lynne Cheney, Karen Hughes, Ann Coulter, Laura Ingraham, Condi Rice, etc...
It's hardly an insult.

11. I thought that Maher simply said "girl," or something similar. |
|
Besides, why can't they be acting like whiny little boys? They are men, apparently. I don't get why they have to bring in the "girl" thing. Leave me, as a girl, out of it.
I'm not as angry/serious as my original message might seem. I meant it as, "Don't call those people girls, because I'd like to think girls are slightly better than this scum."

You're a woman, and women have their own strength. And there is nothing wrong with being a girl ... that is just a phase of life.
But for a self-advertised tough guy to ACT like a girl ... well, that's pathetic. And Maher knows the code us hairier types speak ... trust me. A lot of Bush supporting males get that message, and it weakens their resolve, and rightly so.
So I ask ya to grin and bear it and join the chorus ... they are schoolyard bullies ... they are girlie men !!!!

18. No. I projected on you |
|
My own perceptions that women can be overly sensitive about such phrases. Frankly, I use many uncomplimentary adjectives to describe Bush ... wanker, woosie, mamma's boy, pussy ... I don't want to lose impact by bowing needlessly to the dictates of gender/political correctness but at the same time my little act of projection here tonight makes me think I need to shut up and examine my own thought processes and attitudes for a while.

Most of the time he's devastating and I agree with him unreservedly, but, oh, sometimes he embarrasses me into changing the channel.
