That's up there Jack. That's more than a half-buck more than we're paying and Illinois is not one of the lower priced states. That's gotta be tough to swallow. The Professor

We're about to hit the $2 mark here in GA. And the South always has the lowest prices.
I think I vaguely remember some bonehead saying that if he were the president, he'd get on the phone and jawbone the Saudis to get prices down. Wonder whatever happened to that loser

It jumped on base by 8 cents in one day. Ridiculous.
This could kill Bush, though. That's the only thing that makes it even remotely palatable.

Maybe they ARE keeping the prices down until election day. These over 2 buck prices will likely go much higher after Nov 2, regardless of who wins. Also, there have not been any corresponding price increases on retail goods to account for the increase in transportation costs. I would suspect that Bushes Corporate Buddies are keeping the lid on until Nov. 2 and that on Nov. 3 or there about, we will see the cost of living make an olympic sized jump. Happy Halloween......the boogie man cometh.

just before election day? He must have forgotten to call his Saudi friends in time. I'm going to make sure my tank is full anyway the day before election day because I'm giving free rides to the polls (Dems only).

25. Yeah.. but Europe is laid out completely different. |
|
My European friends don't have to drive to everything! Most of them don't own cars, or if they do, they rarely go far. America is so sprawling, and our lifestyles are sprawling.. blame it on poor city planning or suburban blight.

$1.71 -> $2.07 for regular unleaded...
and that was in less than 12 hours...
i live in greater cleveland, but thankfully live close enough to a county line that i can skirt over and save a few cents when i buy gas.
it also helps that i drive a honda and get almost 40 mpg. i giggle evilly when i see someone driving a hummer, imagining what they pay to fill the tank.
just last week i said i want to see the look on someone's face when they drive one of those things into the gas station and break the $100 mark for a tank of gas, while their nuveau republican swastika "W" rots in the back window of their assault vehicle...

30. More evidence....the "American Way of Life"........ |
|
is unsustainable! We Americans have come to the point that we'll go to war for comfort and convenience. We should have been at $4.00 per gallon for the past 20 years; then we might have developed some serious transportation infrastructure.

26. Woo-hoo, $1.99 a gallon! |
|
I need to buy a 25,000 gal hoarding tank and store it in the yard. I was in high school during the 1973 oil embargo. There were long lines to pay 45 cents a gallon. Stations were running out of gas. I had an English teacher, a little old lady who used to regale us with stories of her youth in Chicago (she worked across the street from the building where the St. Valentine' Day Massacre happened). I quote her now:"When it gets up to $1 a gallon, you'll be able to get all you want."
