4. Really, they're popping up everywhere here in New Jersey
and where they do...they pretty much put everything else out of business....particularly the Ames, Targets, possibly even Best Buys.

My wife is attracted because of the clothes.
She shops at the mall....can't find what she wants...then goes to Walmart and finds something as good or possibly even better for 1/2 the price.

5. Oakland and S.F. have
past ordinances prohibiting Big Box stores over a certain square footage aimed at W-Mart.

The last time I was home and my 4 year old son was playing with some of my old toys... Every one of them was made in the USA. The kid can clear a closet in seconds too (he puts them back) I am not one of those buy american or die folks but it was interesting. Toys 1965 and later- I am not a wallmart shopper either.

3. I was shocked about Sony products being made in China....
I went Panasonic, being made in Japan, on a portable CD player for my son after going through 1/2 dozen cheap Chinese ones.

He's dropped and stomped on the Panasonic one....it's still holding up.

Studies have been shown that the Chinese products are still not necessarily a good total VALUE when purchased....even at ridiculously low prices.

Problem is....considering longevity...most of what is made in China IS NOT a bargain.

We keep on going back for plastic rakes....crappy this and that....and end up dumping our wallets at Walmart....we continue to consume consume consume.

It may be too late to turn it around. We're giving away the store....don't have the manufacturing infrastructure we used to. We've not only allowed Chinese products to REPLACE American made....we've dumped into China an amazing QUANTITY of money...feeding into their clever strategy to MAKE MONEY OFF THESE CHEAP ITEMS....now ironically...they'll take this money and move towards a higher quality edge over us in other areas....

Result...it won't be long before their quality and manufacturing capabilities are second to none....

Predictions are that within 3 years they will be moving into important markets of autos, SUVs, ....even replacement Microsoft OSs and the highest tech electronics.

My personal solution....don't buy Chinese....and limit spending to the max.
