You cannot ban the Bush family as the Consititution specifically prohibits the enactment of a "Corruption of Blood".

If we still have any credibility left, I think it would be whittled away by electing an Austrian body builder as our President.

As we do not belong to the Free World anymore, it might be a prudent move to cement our evil for all of time and enshirne it with Hitler, Stalin, and Caeser.

This was a bedrock provision of the constitution and a guarantee that we will never be ruled by anyone whose emotional allegiance is to a foreign nation.
I am not sorry that Arnold or Rupert or Moon can never be POTUS.

If that'd been the case, we'd probably have George Bush Sr. as our President right now, because Ronald Reagan would have died midway through his sixth term in office.

11. They can do it in Canada. |
|
As far as I'm aware, there's no law prohibiting a naturalized citizen, even one who just passed the citizenship test ten seconds ago, from announcing he's going to be running for leadership of a political party (which then translates into PMship if his party wins the election).
It's just never happened with an American yet. For a while, it was all British- and French-born naturalized citizens who were PM of Canada, until finally there were actually people born in Canada who were old enough to run.

As far as I am aware most countries do allow foreign born people to run for head-of-state. The US is the odd one out in this.
As to allegiance issues would you rather have someone who CHOOSE to be a citizen, or one who is one by accident of birth?
This issue gets a lot of emotional heat but very little rational thought methinks.
Having said all that I would have for the Governator to be POTUS, but there are surely other people who would do a great job of it.

And I agree- who cares where someone is from originally if they actually care about maintaining a civilized democratic nation and have the best interests of the country/humanity in mind? After all, there are many people (here and) around the world who were more concerned about saving our credibility/reputation/face as a nation than the "natives" of the Shrub administration were.

that we add an Amendment to the Constitution that prohibits a sibling or an heir of a President from running for either VP or President for 20 years. As we already do have restrictions on the Presidency, I don't see why this one would be different from term limits.
By doing this, we prevent one powerful family from turning the Presidency into a monarchy, or benefitting from previous terms (such as Supremes paying off Poppy by appointing the idiot son),or using the Presidency to further the family's finanical interest - as with the *'s.
