1. She may not think it a political baseball game... |
|
Anyhow, I don't imagine the Cheney family wants to go back to the time when the initially became aware of this or their reactions...Better left as it is...She may very well be the class act of the family...More power to her.

2. Doubt it... because it's not about the facts or truth... |
|
BC-04 will allow their spin to continue its momentum through the media. The last thing they want is to have an actual conversation about Kerry's statement and the context.
Seriously, other than the Cheney's being angry, did they actually say WHAT they were angry about -- other than that their daughter's name was mentioned? (Note that I'm talking about the Cheney's or any other direct source, and not the media spin.)
The spin is all about the Cheneys' anger -- but not about any valid reason for their anger.

13. You're right; if anything, their anger looks phony as Hell |
|

3. That's the 64 trillion dollar question, isn't it? |
|
If she's the aggrieved party, why the fuck doesn't she have anything to say? Are angrydad and protectivemommy the masters of her fate?
If it's an affront to her, she needs to speak out. If not, she needs to kill it.
Dante said it best: he made a special section of hell for those who preserved their neutrality in times of crisis. More than anything else, this is specifically about HER; she owes it to humanity to chime in. She's benefitting from this society, and if she's going to just coast and dodge, that's not fair in any sense of the concept.
If she's been wronged, the dialogue started with dad; to slip by without taking a stance is cowardice by any measure. What does she have to say? If she's been intruded upon, it was by her parents; for them to cry foul and use her pain for personal gain is despicable.
Mary, you're a public figure now. You benefit financially as such, so it's time for you to speak out. As a public figure (and since you take a salary as such) you owe society your pronouncement.
If, on the other hand, it's unfairness from Kerry and Edwards, then she should step up and make her point.
What's your take on this?

4. As a lesbian....I can put myself somewhat into Mary Cheney's shoes.., |
|
...well, except for that horrible, selfish republican mindset, but I digress....
If my mother went on national TV saying that someone was evil for simply stating that I was a lesbian, I would feel quite rejected by my own mother. Now, if I wasn't out to anyone, then maybe I would think that she was just defending me in a sort of ignorant way. True equality will come when it can be opening stated that someone is gay or lesbian without it even raising an eyebrow. Until then, the finger of homophobia is easy to point at those making the fuss.

5. You are right: the cheney's find homosexuality offensive |
|
and therefore see Kerry's remark as a jab. If you find homosexuality neutral, or not a big deal, you won't be offended. Simple as that.

8. They're playing to thier bigot-base. |
|
Every homophobic parent or parent-wannabe will agree that it's awful to point out their "disgrace."
The Cheneys are pond scum - bottom-feeders in the national septic tank of political corruption.
(I'm very grateful to my high school English teacher, Ms. Ann Aloegee, who taught me about metaphors and similes.)

11. Right, and don't expect Mary Cheney to say a word |
|
because not only is she trying to honor her parents, she's trying to preserve her inheritance. Remember, they're loaded.

7. Perhaps she has no issue with not being able to marry |
|
That is the only reason she's been brought up both times - in conjection with the marriage amendment.
She's being used as an example in a case where she simply may have no dog in the hunt.

9. She's making lemonade from what she sees as one of life's lemons. |
|
Just because she's a lesbian doesn't mean she doesn't regard it as akin to leprosy! She's supporting Bush/Cheney, ferkrissakes! She's a fucking reichbot!
