Koppel...Stewart...Franken...keep the momentum going.... |
|
it started last night with Koppel's comments about reporting the truth regardless of what they found....regardless of the timing...
then Jon letting the crossfire team understand the idea that 'maybe' the press wasn't doing their job......
Franken follows up and asks that CNN get their priorities straight on what is important
let's hope that this spreads.....Maybe CBS can show some backbone and get the yellow cake report on the air!
(sometimes I am a dreamer.)
IF THE MEDIA HAD BEEN DOING THEIR JOB TO BEGIN WITH....BUSH WOULDN'T EVEN BE A CANDIDATE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Their have been several of us who have been noting the need for some major changes in media simply because it is all too clear that they really have overdone it. The filters, influence, shaping, and such lost some of the transparency they once had because of this election.
Good to see some important figures coming out and calling it.
Now, the important thing is to not let this be a fad and just pass over because that is how the media does their snow-job. Quick media bites, and move on fast. Only tabloid stories like OJ and such get long-term attention.
After the vote, we need to ROCK the media, support alternatives, and even call for a Democratization of media, especially the airwaves ... they BELONG to the People.
It is also clear that vast numbers of stations are being pulled into only a handful of Corporate groups. So are newspapers and other media. It looks like some major overhaul of the laws concerning this, and a clear investigation into the FCC's regulations, are important.
My personal thanks to Jon Stewart! What is so funny is those who don't understand that that "fake" news has really closer to the truth, under the safe guise of humor, than most mainstream is. I think they are starting to wake up to that "joke" now though.
The revolution may, or may not, be televised ;)

I don't quite know who, specifically, you mean by "us," but media reform in 100 different directions has been an ongoing theme/complaint/issue here at DU for as long as I've been a member (which goes back to about total members signed up at about 12,000).

6. Sorry, I was misunderstood. |

I meant several people here at DU = us. Amount was not the issue.
That was a segway for links and more information, anyway.
The impetus is there, and yes, there have been, and are, many alternatives and a very strong INDY front.
