Contact Borders corporate hdqs & tell the we want truthful books up front
Today, I complained about the fact that Coulter's book and O'Neill's book are upfront and "Unfit Commander" and Moore's new books are hidden. lI was told that this was CORPORATE POLICY and the individual stores could do nothing about it. The corporate phone number is (734)477-1100 Let's let them know what we think of their attempts to push lies down people throats. Coulter's books contain nothing but unsuhstantiaed lies and Koppel outed O'Neill.

1. I haven't stepped foot inside a Borders store...
... since I walked upstairs to the children's section one day and was confronted by a huge display of "Dr." Laura books for kids.

Fuck that. Fuck her and fuck them. They lost a customer that day and, from what you've described here, they're not going to get me back any time soon.

:grr:

2. Another DU'er and I have been know for
placing the left wing books, like "America" that are hidden in a corner over the right wing books prominently displayed, in B & N when it was busy and the help were distracted. Maybe it could work at Border's too.

3. Can't afford a long-distance call, but if you can find an email
or snail addy that would get where you want it to land, I'll be happy to write a letter.

I'm seeing this as an issue having to do with true patriotism, and I'd love to tell Border's CEO that.

:hi:

5. problem is
Border has a policy, which tyey will happily read to you, that they don't play favorites with political books. You say you want them to put truthful books out, they will respond that the cons think thier books are the true ones and that Borders doesn't want to censor anybody.

Coulter's and O'Niells books are newer and Borders expects the cons to buy a lot of them so they put them out front.

But at my Borders, we have also put plenty of Liberal books out front and lying Liers has been out front for MONTHS becuase it sells well.

And to be honest, Moore's book is right there alongside Coulter's right beside Bushworld at the Borders where I work.

It's not a right wing plot, it's just money and the way retail works.

it may be better to talk to the manager of the strore rather then going straight to head office right away.

7. When I complained at Barnes & Noble,
they told me EXACTLY the same thing....said corporate headquarters decided based on which were best-sellers. I told the flustered young man that they were influencing which books became best-sellers by giving them more prominence. He just shrugged. But, I am going to keep complaining every time I go there..and next time, I will do it loudly.
