RevMoon owns land above Guarani aquifer, largest supply of fresh water.

Guarani aquifer? Just the largest supply of fresh drinking water ON THE PLANET.

from moonwatcher@bartcop:

HELL-O IS ANYONE LISTENING?
IMHO, Moon's organization IS 1000000000000 times more of danger to the future of the planet than any terrorist. At least SOME in South American aren't afraid to face him and try to protect their citizens from this group of fraudsters. That's a LOT more than we can say for ANY politician in this Moonized country of ours. Oh, and he has said that by living there they are less likley to get hit should the nukes start flying.

http://www.religionnewsblog.com/8997-Moonies_accused_of_involvement_in_drugs.html

PARAGUAY: The Reverend Moon has carved out a section of Paraguay that is twice the size of Luxembourg. Seamus Mirodan went to see it
Reverend Sun Myung Moon, spiritual leader of the Unification Church, self-proclaimed Messiah, multimillionaire and a generous contributor to the US Republican Party, has been showing a strong interest over the last five years in little-known Paraguay at the centre of the South American continent.
Since 1999, Rev Moon has built his personal empire which begins on the marshy banks of the River Paraguay and stretches beyond the hazy, level horizon through 600,000 hectares of arid land - equivalent to more than two Luxembourgs - punctuated by solitary clusters of withered trees and sad bushes which struggle desperately for air.

The scorching sun beats relentlessly on one of Latin America's most desolate zones. It is here in the northern province of Chaco, directly above the GuaranI aquifer, the largest resource of fresh drinking water in the world, where Moon's associates claim he wishes to build an ecological paradise.

Nevertheless, national Senator Domingo Laino sees a different pattern in Moon's acquisitions. "There are two principal branches to Moon's interest in Paraguay," he said, "control of the largest fresh drinking water source in the world and control of the narcotics business", which is so prevalent in this area. "President Lula told me that Brazil took serious measures to curb Moon a few years back as it became evident that he was buying up the border between our two countries," said the senator. ...

Not content with expanses of potentially invaluable land, Rev Moon has also taken over entire towns, including factories and homes. In Puerto Casado, tensions between Moon disciples and locals led to violent confrontation over the last year following the closure of the only source of work, a lumber factory, and the dismissal of 19 workers who tried to form a union in order to demand an eight-hour day and the national minimum wage of GBP80 sterling per month.

According to Senator Emilio Camacho: "The Moon sect is a mafia. They seek to subvert government control and are effectively building a state within a state. I believe they are hoping the local population will leave so they have unquestioned authority in the zone and are free to do whatever they want."
This is not the first time such accusations have been levelled against Rev Moon and his associates in South America. Last June, the Chilean government refused to recognise the sect as a religious association and accused them of being "a danger to society". An aid to the Chilean Interior Minister described Rev Moon's ideology, somewhere to the right of the Taliban's Mullah Omar, as "profoundly anti-communist, xenophobic and with a marked Nazi inspiration". Venezuela and Honduras have expelled the cult.....
In 1999, the Brazilian federal police launched an investigation into the involvement of Rev Moon's associates in money-laundering and tax evasion, amidst accusations of drug-running. By October of that year, he had down-sized his operation in Brazil and bought land in Paraguay. According to local landowners, everything was paid for in cash, often for more than it was actually worth.

1. There was a good thread going on Moon for a while this morning
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=show_topic&forum=102&topic_id=906139

It began with a posting about Robert Parry's new article on Carlton Sherwood's ties to Moon:
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2004/101504.html

I Googled a bit and came up with a link to an anti-Moon blog (by John Gorenfeld, who writes for Salon) that includes the article you're referencing and many others:
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2004/101504.html

It seems like Moon just gets scarier and scarier. He's one of several topics I hope DU can take up in earnest after the election. (But I certainly wouldn't mind putting together info and links on him now if enough other people are interested.)

to our understanding of what is going on behind the scenes.

Some have asked where the right wing and neo-con leaders are going to go when they finish bringing this country down - some have said the'll rocket off to some space station or planet. Now, we know.

How old is Moon, anyway?

Kicking up, yes this is important. Everyone needs to understand this. It's worse than the Saudi connection. Try talking with your "Christian" friends about this, it makes their heads spin. They can't handle it. They refuse to even hear a word you say.

A major disconnect happens when you try to make them understand the Moon connection. Many Christians we've tried to tell about the good Rev. Moon have come unwound.

The Bilderbergs.
The Trilateral Commission.
The Council of Foreign Relations.
The Central Intelligence Agency.

Most everyone has heard of these groups and some of the conspiracy theories surrounding them regarding the development of the 'New World Order.'

Now imagine for a moment there is something to this (and there appears to be no lack of documented material justifying these theories). That would mean that at almost every elevated level of business and government, world wide, men and women have infiltrated, become the controlling administrators and are working to effectively control every aspect of the life of the "world citizen."

One aspect of this that has not been properly searched out is the "religious" connection. Surely, given that much of the world is religious, and in the currently reigning SuperPower nation of the U.S., predominantly "Christian," then it would only make sense that these organizations have infiltrated the Church itself and are also actively leading it to into the New World Order as well.

Do the worlds leading Christian evangelicals have ties to these organizations?

Yes they do, and it is thoroughly documented.

Rev. Sun Myung Moon (The Moonies), and
the Unification Church

For those few of you who are not familiar with the Rev. Moon, in the 60s both he and his Unification Church were universally regarded as a dangerous cult. The abuse his followers suffered at the hands of their mind manipulating master is indeed very well established.

His claims include stating that Christ failed His mission, and that Moon himself is the "new messiah" who is come to fulfill the mission of God. He also claims that it is his mission to 'unite the world through uniting religious forces'. But would it shock you to know that nearly all the big name Christian evangelicals have extremely strong ties to him?

One such Church leader and internationally recognized evangelical Christian, Jerry Falwell, readily admits that he accepted 2.5 million dollars from Moon in 1994 in order to bail out his Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia. This was funneled through a Moon organization known as the 'Womens Federation for World Peace' which has been chaired by Beverly LaHaye, Wife of Timothy LaHaye, who is the popular co-author of the "Left Behind" Christian fictional book series and a well known evangelical Christian. The Womens Federation for World Peace paid 3.5 million to the Christian Heritage Foundation, which in turn bought Falwell's $73 million debt, and then frankly wrote it off. The Heritage Foundation then seems to have paid themselves a fee of one million dollars for their trouble.

There is lots more at the above link with lots of pics and lots more info. Pay attention people, this is not a "conspiracy theory". Just make sure your to go kit and red alert kit is stocked with lots of tin foil in addition to duct tape. The Good Rev. Moon is coming for us all. Just see what Falwell and Robertson and Billy have to say about it, along with the Bush Family. The Left Behind people, good ole boy Dobson and Family First and so on and so forth.

Diverting attention away from what matters has become the media's work, since 22 November 1963.

8. I'm becoming more disgusted with born again christians and Sharon
operatives posing as U.S. citizens (or dual citizens, in some instances).

The born-agains, in particular, cannot see anything wrong with the phoney christian bush faith. He and his father, mother, and brothers and their good friend, Bill Bennett are all less christian than little animals who burrow in the ground on our great prairies.

(I declare I will not capitalize christians and jews when referring to those who are trying to take us down out of honor for true Christians and Jews who do not trick and cheat the citizens.)

10. Moon, General Singlaub, and the World Anti-Communist League
Edited on Sat Oct-16-04 12:46 PM by starroute
This is something I wrote up for a thread on Carlton Sherwood earlier this week. But it's also highly relevant here:
The World Anti-Communist League was founded in Taiwan in 1966 as a means of opposing Mainland China. The founders included agents of the governments of Taiwan and Korea, Japanese gangsters and war criminals, and followers of Sun Myung Moon. The Anti-Bolshevik Bloc of Nations (an umbrella group for former Nazi collaborators) was also closely associated with the WACL.

In the 1970's, the WACL opened chapters throughout the world, attracting former Nazi supporters in Europe and local fascists in Latin America, such as Sandoval Alarcon, who had been involved in the CIA coup in Guatemala in 1954 and had initiated the first death squads there in the 1960's. These fascist connections caused the first US chapter to disband in 1973 and forced even the Unification Church to dissociate itself (at least officially) in 1975. From 1978 to 1980, WACL was headed by an outright white supremacist, Roger Pearson, who brought in even more European fascists and anti-semites.

Pearson was finally kicked out in 1980 and the WACL set about upgrading its image. This was largely the doing of Major General John K. Singlaub, who started up a new US chapter in 1980 with financing from Joseph Coors. Singlaub had been with the OSS during World War II, then with the CIA, and was head of the unit that ran Operation Phoenix in Vietnam. (As recently as 1998, he was still suing people who dared to call him a war criminal.)

Singlaub and his associates had extremely close ties with the Unification Church and were also connected with the Reagan administration, with right-wing politicans like Jesse Helms, and with various Latin American dictatorships. In 1984, WACL's ties to the Latin American fascists and death squads were revealed, and they did a little purely cosmetic housecleaning.

Singlaub became chairman of WACL in 1984. At about the same time, Congress shut off government funding to the Contras, and the White House tapped Singlaub to serve as a private fundraiser instead. Singlaub reported directly to Oliver North, and it seems likely that his supposed fundraising was really a means of laundering Iran-Contra money. Singlaub was indicted for this in 1986 and 1988.

An extremely nasty picture is starting to emerge here, and it's spelled F-A-S-C-I-S-M. Before I started researching, I was vaguely aware that the less savory fringes of the extreme right had Nazi connections, but I was really surprised to learn that there was also a connection to the remains of World War II era militarism in Japan and Korea. This is exactly the background that Moon comes out of.

Paul Weyrich and his Heritage Foundation, who have extensive ties to Moon, represent another point where the right slips into outright fascism. Weyrich himself -- who may have invented the term "culture wars" -- is a sworn enemy of Enlightenment values and democracy and a believer in restoring rule by traditional elites. Roger Pearson, mentioned above as heading the World Anti-Communist League in the late 70's, was on the editorial board of the Heritage Foundation's magazine at the same time.

We all know that the Contras and the South African apartheid regime were the big baddies of the 1980's. But we don't generally think of them as being part of a world-wide neo-fascist agenda. And yet they were, and Moon still is. In this context, Moon's setting up shop in an area of South America that traditionally has been the subject of wild-eyed tabloid stories about secret Nazi headquarters stops being an odd coincidence and starts to be actively disquieting.

A few minutes from Lake Erie. Spent my early life and some adult time too on a cliff at the edge of Lake Erie. (Drop over and see us some time!)

Lake Baikal in Russia I think has more fresh water than Superior?

The polar ice caps are said to hold most of the worlds fresh water.

Different sources say different things.

18. Wow, I hadn't know the Bush connection was that tight
http://www.consortiumnews.com/2000/101100a.html

Besides making alleged payments to North Korea’s communist leaders, the 80-year-old founder of the South Korean-based Unification Church has funneled large sums of money, possibly millions of dollars as well, to former President George H.W. Bush.

One well-placed former leader of Moon’s Unification Church told me that the total earmarked for former President Bush was $10 million. The father of the Republican nominee has declined to say how much Moon’s organization actually paid him for speeches and other services in Asia, the United States and South America.

At one Moon-sponsored speech in Argentina in 1996, Bush declared, “I want to salute Reverend Moon,” whom Bush praised as “the man with the vision.”

Bush made these speeches at a time when Moon was expressing intensely anti-American views. In his own speeches, Moon termed the United States “Satan’s harvest” and claimed that American women descended from a “line of prostitutes.”
