Was the President's vow not to get a flu shot noble or reckless? |
|
On one hand, a case could be made that as a healty person he was providing leadership and an example to others by not taking a flu shot. But, on the other hand, he is the President of the United States. The Secret Service spends millions and millions of dollars protecting his life for a reason. Do the American people really want their President, the man with the red button, to be incapacitated by an avoidable flu bug? I'm on the side that it is another example of George Bush's bad judgement. Had he said, "As President, the responsibilities of my office, require me to take a flu shot, but my wife and daughters are not going to them this year," he could have set the example just as effectively without jeopardizing the President's, not his, the Presient's health. Of course, this raises the question of whether his wife and daughters are taking flu shots? Then again, for all I know, GW could have taken a flu shot on the morning he told us he wasn't going to take one. Would anybody be suprised to find out he's already had one?

2. He's more likely to get one and say he didn't. |
|
And the debates had proved how incapacitated he already is.

4. First I don't think there is any way they would allow him not........ |
|
to get the shot and secondly there is no way he is going to risk getting the Flu with all the campagning (shaking all those hands) and the election so close. He is a bald faced liar.

5. "Frivoulous Lawsuit" coming ????? |
|
If they think the Courts of the past have been swamped.. My LEEEEEbrial daughter, after watching pRes tell Muricans not to get a shot, is prepared to file wrongful death lawsuits against the Great Leader Hisself (Supremes have ruled you can do that, see Paula vx. Clinton) if any of her senior relatives die this winter of anything that can be remotely connected to the flu virus. She is young, has lots of time to wait out the 10 year trip through the Justice System. I can see it all now. None of my grandchildren to be need worry about being a Child Left Behind in education. Perhaps one will even choose to grow pigs on his new Crawford, Texas ranch.

7. George "Wanker" Bush is not going to die from the flu |
|
I've had the flu and survived. But I seriously think he just lied and got a shot anyway.
The flu shot should be reserved for the people who need it most this year: old people, AIDS patients, hospital workers, etc.
I'm not getting a flu shot.

9. He stole credit for the Brits stopping shipment |
|
And he said it was a British company when it was actually an American company! Why didn't Kerry or anyone call him on those two glaring mistakes!
and what's the deal with it being made in England? I doubt it would be much cheaper to make there than here in America.

11. c'mon, this is bush. so, "I'm not going to get the shot" means |
|
"I already GOT the shot and I'm just pretending to be brave and noble and caring and patriotic and terra terra BOO!"
of course, Kerry *should* have said:
Mr. President, you should get that shot. You're the commander-in-chief, for now, and we're a nation at war. Of course, if you're afraid of needles....

It no doubt thrilled those who adore his arrogant, cocky, resolute attitude. But it did nothing to respond to the problem. How to look like you're addressing a problem when you're doing nothing at all?
Slippery and slimy.

Because certain people with compromised immune systems or other types of illnesses shouldn't have a flu shot. Since GWB won't take his required physical I can only assume he's hiding a serious condition that would make him ineligible for the shot anyway -- and he wouldn't be able to hide any information he might have to provide in order to get one. This is just a matter of happy coincidence for George.

it would hardly matter if he were in bed with the flu for a week. I'm sure Condi will tuck him in and bring him his favorite book to read.

If he isn't lying, it is stupid because of his heavy campaign schedule. He isn't really threatening his life though. Unlike most of us, he has a doctor with him everywhere that he goes and other people to make sure that he doesn't die from anything stupid. If he did get the flu, which he is at risk for because of cotact with many people, he'd probably have to take a week off from the campaign. That seems stupid to me. On the otherhand, maybe he is hoping for sympathy or something if he does get flu.
