Question re: Supreme Court Nomination
Is this scenario possible:

Bush loses, quickly followed by a Supreme Court resignation (I'm guessing either Rehnquist or O'Connor). Can he nominate a replacement, and then have the Republican controlled Congress fast-track an appointment? Can it happen in that short of a time span?

The new Congress gets installed around the beginning of January, keep in mind. So we're talking, at most, about two months from start to finish. Is this a realistic possibility?

certainly the constitution doesn't prohibit this, but dems would filibuster the hell out of that one.

4. Yeah, I guess the Dems would filibuster it.
So, probably not likely. It's a scary thought, though, and I do not put anything past this group.

3. They might try it
I put nothing past these anti-American Bushie idiots.

But, like Unblock says, there are procedural safeguards against that kind of chicanery.

7. Would Ashcroft be as bad as Scalia or Thomas?
Interesting point of discussion...
