If you couldn't be an American any longer... which nationality would you choose?
-- Allen
edit: Of course the question assumes that you're already an American... so if you want to play along, just insert your nationality in place of "American".

I'd love to have grown up Dutch. Excellent education, speaking several different languages other than my own, very enlightened people (gross generalization, yes, but based on observation).

The Canadians are good, decent people. They care more about themselves and community then they do being "miltaristic" and being the "biggest, baddest on the block" like we do. How Michael Moore characterized Canadians in "Bowling for Columbine" is exactly right...how they're crime rate and murder rate is MUCH lower than ours, per capita. They don't reach for the gun as easily as we Americans do.

I was born in Montreal, and lived there until I was 15, when my family moved to the States. I became a US citizen right after Bush stole the election in 2000, so that I could vote in my swing state of Pennsylvania.
Fortunately, Canada does not make you relinquish your citizenship, so I still have a Canadian birth certificate and passport. It may come in very handy soon.

My great-grandparents moved down here from Canada somewhere around the early 1900s. Other than that side of the family is mixed-ethnic (French and Native American) and there was a lot of racism at the time I can't see where it would have been any better in the U.S. or that they would have had more opportunity. One of my goals in life was to live in Vancouver, but it looks less and less as if I'll be able to do that.

An infinitely more civilized populace and therefore government. I hope they will allow my wife and I to become citizens if * successfully steals another term.

To have dual Dutch and Canadian citizenship. I almost married an Australian in my younger days which would have left me a trinational...
Holland and Canada have an agreement with Canada allowing dual citizenship in both countries stemming from Canada's role in liberating the Netherlands in WW2 and Ottawa was home to much of the Dutch Royal family in this period.
I was born in Canada but now live in the Netherlands.
I would not have it any other way.
