Fox trying to fire Bill O'Reilly accuser |
|
Kos of www.dailykos.com speculates that Bill O'Reilly is behind the possible firing of woman who says O'Reilly sexually harrassed her:

I am not forming an opinion on the O'Reily allegations until evidence is put forth (it's too easy to accuse). But Fox has made a huge PR blunder by firing the accuser. Scandal-hit Fox News moved yesterday to fire an employee who says she was sexually harassed by Bill O'Reilly - but wants a judge to declare the canning isn't retribution.
Andrea Mackris, 33, said she was served legal papers about her termination by a man lying in wait for her at her Manhattan apartment building.
The documents said Fox had asked a judge to let the TV station dump her from a $93,200-a-year job as associate producer on "The O'Reilly Factor" - and to rule that the firing was not in retaliation for her accusations about the show's host. Obviously she couldn't continue working for O'Reilly's show. But Fox News is a big operation. They should've simply transferred her to a different department pending the outcome of litigation.
But it's obvious O'Reilly has a lot of pull in the network, and it was probably under his orders she was canned. Indeed, it was under O'Reilly's orders that Fox sued Al Franken for his Lying Liars book -- giving the book a huge sales boost and turning O'Reilly into an object of derision.
Ol' Bill is a hothead, and clearly lets his emotions override reason when he feels slighted. Fox should learn to stand up to the megalomaniac and tell him to let the professionals handle things.

1. Note to Judge - Cut & Paste phrase - "Wholly without merit." |
|
This woman is being fired for no other reason than filing a complaint against Bill O'Reilly. Fox will have to answer two questions:
1) Would this woman have been fired if there were no lawsuit?
2) Even if the answer is yes, does the lawsuit have any bearing in the decision.
If the answer isn't "no" to both questions, then it is retaliation. In addition, Fox is an accomplice to the sexual harassment for firing her. What kind of HR department does Fox employ? Only a complete idiot wouldn't see what that Fox is shooting itself in the foot.

Howcome O'Reilly hasn't been fired or at least suspended? These are the same people who demanded Clinton be removed from office.
