The automatic goodwill that this country enjoyed from the people of the |

world is now gone.Even when this country was subverting other governments and installing tyrants like the Shah of Iran or Somoza, the good that this country has done outweighed the ills and people generally looked at those acts as aberrations brought on by necessity. With Bush and his patently false excuses justifying the War on Iraq, a new level of hatred for American policy has been unleashed among even America's traditional allies not to mention its enemies. The erosion of goodwill will show up in subtle ways because the majority of the nations of the world do not have either the economic power or the military might to confront the U.S.

From now on America will be regarded with suspicion,if not outright comtempt. It may take decades to repair what Bush has done in 4 years.

talked to any kids who have gone 'abroad' for school?
I have... they are instructed to indentify themselves as Canadian NOT American. They are forbidden to wear any red/white/blue clothing, no school sweat shirts... nothing that could bring attention to the fact that they are American.
And this was in LONDON, for god's sake.
It is pathetic.
The world hates our collective mongering guts now.
It may be the thing that makes me most sad ....
