Churches Installing Cell Phone Jammers
MONTERREY, Mexico - It was the reporters who noticed first. Unable to call their editors while covering the weddings of the rich and famous, they asked the priest why their cell phones never worked at Sacred Heart. His reply: Israeli counterintelligence.

In four Monterrey churches, Israeli-made cell phone jammers the size of paperbacks have been tucked unobtrusively among paintings of the Madonna (news - web sites) and statues of the saints.

The jarring polychromatic din of ringing cell phones is increasingly being thwarted — from religious sanctuaries to India's parliament to Tokyo theaters and commuter trains — by devices originally developed to help security forces avert eavesdropping and thwart phone-triggered bombings.

7. Good call :)
 :yourock:

Wish they'd put cell phone jammers in cars too. The jammer would shut off only when the car is stopped and the ignition turned off.

8. No kidding. The Right Wing controls movie theaters!
I'm all for cellphone jammers in places like that. That's what voicemail is for. Unless one of your relatives is going to die in the next hour, there is no reason to have an accessible cellphone. I actually hate when I get called during a movie. Of course I have friends would answer his cellphone while carrying a casket. I see nothing wrong as long as they post a notice about it.

6. It's a great idea. A couple of years ago, I was out with

friends on Wednesday morning, as usual, and since it was Ash Wednesday, a couple of us decided to go to noon Mass. Since I don't use it that often, I never thought about my cell phone in my purse being on, until it rang during Mass. I was mortified, though at least it happened when we were all about to go up and receive ashes, so people were moving around. I will never forget again, but if everyone had to go through that experience once to learn to check their phone, there'd be an awful lot of services interrupted.
