What happens on tax if Kerry gets in, but Congress is still Republican? |
|
Are enough Republicans likely to agree to Kerry's proposals to allow them to go through? Or will there be a standoff? Would that be tied to passing a budget, and so involve the farcial shutting down of National Parks etc. to see who blinks first - or would it mean that tax rates stay as they are, in which case the Republicans would effectively win?

4. Repugs will start to raise taxes, making the Dems look like they are the |

ones behind it. Or they will just try to get people involved in sex scandles again....

5. John Edwards will go out and shame House Repubs so much that in 2005... |
|
...less than a year before the next congressional elections, Republlicans will have to either vote for the Democratic tax plan or face losing their next election.
Senators will do the right thing too (they won't get in the way of a bill passed by the house).
Kerry should be able to get a tax bill at least between 11 and 15 months into his term.

6. Shaming Republican politicians? Now that IS hard work |
|
given they seem to have had an operation to remove their ability to feel shame.
Good - I guess there have to be some Republican congressmen/women who have narrow majorities. I'd forgotten they all have to re-elected in another 2 years time.

7. It's not that they feel the shame. It's that voters perceive them as... |
|
...behaving shamefully and won't vote for them. That's how Clinton got Republicans to buckle.
