If Bush wins, I predict he will be impeached within the first 3
months. I don't want him to win but if so many people cant see what is happening, they deserve for him to win. I believe the world would not except this and all of the truth will finally come out. If Kerry wins he just inherits an awful mess and nothing will happen to Bush and Co. They should go down loudly in office and disgraced. I'm not afraid of him winning anymore because I think he will go down in a hurry and maybe America will wake up. What do you think?

19. I know they will
but only after Cheney has to step aside due to ill health and be replaced by McCain or some other person more palatable to the righties.

Idiot has lost the military, the CIA, the FBI, and all of the moderates in his own party. There is no way he can hang onto power under such circumstances. If the pubbies won't oust him, the military might.

Shrub has already implied or offered McCain the VP if Cheney steps down or is indicted. What shrubby doesn't know is that McCain WILL have the ultimate revenge.

IF we had the facts out. But if they are impeached then next in line is Denny Hastert...I'm not sure I could accept him as President.

It doesn't help if he's re-elected because the sucession is so terrible for us.

42. Are you hoping for all of that?
Are you wanting two million American flu deaths, just so Democrats can win? If you do, then I sincerely hope that you do not get your wish. If you are hoping for all of that, then you are saying that Democrats can only do well when America is doing poorly. I disagree. We should hope that things go well for America and that we can offer a better job. We should NOT hope that everything goes wrong, just so we can get in.

4. I agree, in fact...
I was just wondering why the hell the Republicans even want him to win.
He will be opposed at every turn, and apparently even many Republicans
in D.C. openly acknowledge he is unfit for the job.

Basically, George Bush being re-elected will be a disaster for the Republicans
not unlike the re-election of Nixon in 1972.

GOP maintains the Congress (House/Senate). Plus, SCOTUS vacancies will occur shortly after he takes office and he will install some very scary folks that will make everything even worse. However, a revolt on the streets might result in something worse.

(For those yahoos - unrelated to the DU monitors - monitoring posts, this is not a threat, it's a nightmare to think Bush may be
re-elected! I know that sounded a bit paranoid and generally I'm not into conspiracy theories, but with Bush & Co I tend to fear the worse).

on edit - I have no idea why there is a line through my text. Apparently I discovered some new function....

. . . you put brackets around your 's' in the word re-'s'elected. Notice the 's' is missing. Brackets around an 's' is code to 'strike' the text.

44. A street revolt would be easily squashed.
The masses would NOT be with you. In fact, they would be against you. Part of the reason McGovern lost so badly was that he was identified with the street protesters and the disorder. And that was just disorderly protest. A real revolt would mean the end of the progressive movement for a long time.

"They" arent' the ones who will be hurt by his re-election. It will be the poor people, and the soldiers, the citizens of the countries he decides to invade, US - those will be the ones hurt.

The idiots who supported him will go down flags flying like the loyal Nazis went with Hitler - they won't see the devastation. They will remain blind to it while the rest of the world suffers.

Fuck that "they deserve it" shit. NO ONE deserves it.

12. I agree. Gop WANTS to impeach and remove bush & cheney
Because then they can choose his replacement and show that republicans are not all crazies like bush. That's what happened with nixon. He was replaced by the moderate and popular ford and america came to think of nixon as just an aberration. If bush is replaced shortly after winning the election, the repugs will have nearly 4 years to do the same.

13. I don't see that happening, but
there is a plausible scenario under which it could: Cheney. It's practically open knowledge that he's W's cheif puppetmaster, and he's ambitious for power. If W is re-elected, Cheney could engineer a backdoor power-grab via a Bush impeachment. Despite his extremism, his demeanor has plenty of people fooled into thinking he's more moderate than he is, so his swearing-in could be sold by an RNC-compliant media as a return to normalcy.

Granted, there are big holes in that scenario, but Cheney is hardly a master strategist. Ask Gerald Ford.

14. for any president to be impeached...
...his(her) own party would have to do it. The impeachment of Clinton was a fruitless political enterprise and the Republicans knew that conviction was impossible.

On the other hand, Nixon quit because he knew his party had given up on him.

At some point the Repubs will have trouble defending the idiot and will cut their losses.

18. I think it would be more like a year
and I think it is possible because republicans running for re-election in the off year might get scared of this *albatrose hanging around their neck. And once * pushes the draft all of them will be worried about the own necks. Or maybe after two years the house might become more democrat filled. Or maybe all these dirty scandals will start coming out and they really will have no choice but to impeach him or risk every republican in the next round of elections.

Also, there are several republicans who made it clear at the convention that they are interested in being president. If * starts pushing for jeb, I think many republicans will get their panties in a bunch and start even more in-fighting.

I want Kerry to win then prosecute, prosecute, prosecute and imprison these bastards with maximum penalties. With a Kerry win, there will be NO pardons.
All of this administration has broken laws to the maximum from top to bottom.

25. Read the constitution
You can pardon anything - EXCEPT impeachment.

However he will pardon for everything else. When he loses in 2 weeks he will pardon him self, everyone in his administration, and every corporate friend he has for every crime they have comitted before he leaves.

A Kerry win, unfortunately, does NOT prevent this. The power to pardon is unlimited EXCEPT for impeachment. It can not be reversed except through constitutional amendment. In other words - they are going to get off free and there's not a damn thing anyone can do about it. (well, I suppose if they ever left the country they could be arrested someplace else... but that's about it)

27. Um.. If Bush "wins" , it's unlikely that Dems will re-take the house.
Impeachment begins in the house.. Won't happen in a republican-controlled house..

If he "wins", the house will be doing back flips of wild exuberance, because they will truly be unfettered for the next 4 years..

Imagine the mayhem they can inflict upon us all, with NO CHANCE of being checked for at least the next 2 years...

Any by the time the 2006 elections roll around, they will have fully installed the BBV machines that will insure their continued reign.

The FCC will have strengthened the right wing grip on the media, and with tax cuts for the rich, as far as the eye can see, the middle class will be too devastated and demoralized to do much complaining..

Impeachment would be very far down the list of problems for our country..

Don't forget too, that if he managed to get a 2nd term, the rest of the world will wash their hands of us.. Right now, they feel sorry for us, because they know we were hoodwinked the last time, but if it happens AGAIN, they can only assume that we ARE JUST LIKE HIM..

31. There is a good chance of Mr. Bush Jr. losing, and if so...
I think there will be a melt down in the Republican Party. The problem is that a lot of moderate Republican's do not want their lives ruled by religion (at least the Evangelical religion). This will essentially split the party in half.

As a personal note, I do not think the House of Representatives will be to kind to Republicans this year. In other words, hopefully there will be less of them!
