CBN.com – Mr. Gimenez Goes to Washington
In 1980 Bishop John Gimenez heard the voice of the Lord. The Lord challenged John to call America to fast and pray for the healing of America. John's obedient response resulted in the first Washington for Jesus rally, where nearly a million Americans met on the Capitol Mall to cry out before the Lord.
Since that first event, John has answered the Lord's call to rally the Church and the nation in both the 1988 and 1990 Washington for Jesus rallies. In addition, the America for Jesus organization founded by John has staged over 200 rallies in cities across America. These events have had one theme: unifying American believers to repent and petition the Lord on behalf of this nation.
On October 22, 2004, America for Jesus will host another event on the Mall. Unity and repentance among Christians will still be a key theme, but John feels an increased urgency for this event unlike those he's lead before.

was launched in 1986, Tim LaHaye's beaming face joined those of the charismatic mystics Oral Roberts, David Yonggi Cho, and Demos Shakarian, Catholic priest John Bertolucci, and others. LaHaye has appeared regularly at "Jesus" rock festivals in various parts of the country, joining hands with rock 'n' rollers and ecumenists, including Tom Skinner and Tony Campolo. Tim LaHaye spoke at Oral Roberts University's 1990 Christian School Conference. He was Co-chairman of the Jerusalem '90 charismatic conference which featured David Yonggi Cho and James Robison. In a fund-raising promotional brochure, LaHaye praised radical charismatic "faith healer" Morris Cerullo upon his takeover of the PTL TV Network/Heritage properties. LaHaye said he was glad it would not be lost "to the body of Christ," and that because of Cerullo's faith, the network would "continue to be used to preach the Gospel and to present positive programming" (11/1/90 & 3/1/91 issues of the Calvary Contender). What amazing blindness! (Reported in the 1/95, O Timothy.)
