yard sign theft
I was shocked this morning to find that my yard signs were stolen overnight. This has never happened to me before. Any suggestions, short of booby trapping the signs?

2. If you have the time, do a stakeout
Put the sign back up. You and a fellow resident, friend or neighbor could do a stake out and catch the bastard in the act. Then it's SHOWTIME!

6. I have a ball bat
I have a ball bat, I wish I had the time for a stakeout. I like the idea of the Crisco and Cayenne. My guy that mows my yard would have to be warned though, he always moves them then replaces them. I actually was thinking of getting some Pop Flares and stringing them to the signs

Good grief!

I'm putting a Kerry yard sign in our yard today. Maybe I'll put the flag out too.

7. Just put out a simple hand-written sign that says
"In 2000 they stole the election.
Now they have stolen my Kerry/Edwards sign"

12. Some are smearing them with stuff (Crisco w/hot pepper, etc.)
But if I were you, I wouldn't use anything like glue that might catch an animal like a squirrel or bird. That would be awful.

I am going to put a Repub sign in my yard, near (but not too near) my Dem. signs, to sort of throw them off. It's a sign for a family law judge that doesn't have a Dem. running against him, so it's not an important race, that one.

My neighbor just replaced his. He had a backup. I did that a couple of years ago. I found that they often don't hit the same place twice.

14. Apply Petroleum Jelly LIBERALLY to the sign
This way, you actually want them to try to steal it. :-)

15. Someone flattened my tire last night...yeah, I have a Kerry-Edwards
bumper sticker. This just makes me sick.

Hey, I have been tempted to take the Bush-Cheney yard signs, but I always think about the lst Amendment - freedom of speech.

Even reported in our local newspaper. My brother told me that some girls at his school have been going around stealing Kerry/Edwards signs and that they have a ton of them in their basement.

18. same thing happened to me yesterday
this is what I did

I used my son's big chalk board to write
"a republican stole this sign" I put it
on my son's easel where my sign used to be .
on the other side of the easel I made a cardboard
sign which reads "Thou Shalt not STEAL"

LOL I honestly think it is very telling about
how scared they are to be stealing signs
