28. If Chimpy "wins", he will have himself declared President for Life...
...and Jebbie will follow him somewhere down the road.

Elections will become a thing of the past, unless they're designed to work like the old Soviet style elections.

32. I don't think America would go for a dynasty...
I've heard people talking about Bill Frist from Tennessee. The 08' election is the whole reason the administration hung Trent Lott out to dry to get their golden boy in the spotlight.

38. Interesting Frist will have to explain how he profits from abortion
procedures and is anti-abortion. That's a tough one for the GOP.

39. I thought Frist was a heart surgeon.
How did he benefit from abortions? I'm from TN and this would be a good argument for my office workers who are big time Frist supporting republicans.

8. None of the above
I think the GOP will go through a radical reshaping after the W debacle.

We may see a schism within their ranks between the suppressed moderates and the rampant radicals which could lead to a third party movement among the legitimate conservatives. It seems beyond any possibility that the neo-Fascists will give up the reins of the GOP but without the cover the moderates give them they will be exposed as the radical right-wing Christian-Talibans that they are.

Just a thought on this Sunday night.

24. Poll shows 48 Percentage of all voters want McCain to run in 2008
Cleveland Plain Dealer also says that 47 Percentage of Republicans want to see McCain run. Maybe this is why John is playing so much kiss up to Republican powers of late.

15. Forget Giuliani.
He might run, but he'll get his ass handed to him in the primaries. Think about it - a pro-choice, pro gay-rights, thrice-married Catholic from New York City who is widely known to have committed adultery while holding public office isn't exactly in line with the stated Repugnican core values, y'know? Besides, people can't even spell his name right.

I also noticed that one name has been left off virtually EVERYONE's list: former VP Dan Quayle. I think he'll run, and he just might get the nomination.

29. He didn't run
In 1996, he was thinking (very publicly) about running, but chose not to throw his hat in the ring after it became obvious that the Big Dawg was going to hand *somebody* their ass in the general election - he didn't want to be that guy.

I think the reason he might actually get the nomination is because he's a pretty inoffensive guy, who hasn't stepped on any toes lately, and has the experience of 2 national campaigns and 4 years as VP. He doesn't have the past baggage of Giuliani, isn't a political landmine like McCain, doesn't have the "Northeastern" label of Pataki or Romney, and is nationally known unlike Chuck Hagel.

On top of that, I think after the unmitigated disaster that has been the Chimp administration, I think the members of the non-theocratic wing of the Repugnican party are feeling a bit nostalgic for the days of Poppy Bush. All that adds up to Mr. Potatoe Head being a VERY viable candidate for the Repugnican nomination in '08.

16. It's wide open
Jeb would be a Bush Too Far. Rudy is too liberal for the big money Rad Right. Romeny is from Massachusetts for Gawd's sake! McCain is radioactive. Robertson -- uh, no. Rice? Well, that might happen under one circumstance -- if Kerry wins and has sky high approval ratings. Then they might look to pull an electoral end run to score points later down the road. But I don't think the Pubs are ready to vote for a black female in sufficient numbers to win. In fact, that might cause an insurrection in the deep south...

I think it'll be somebody that isn't even on the radar yet.

Guilani, Frist, Jeb, Pataki, Santorum, and who knows who else?

I think if shrub loses this year, it's going to be a big emotional defeat for the neocons. They will surely re-group, bu I think it's gonna be a while.

I heard some reason why they wouldn't run Jeb, but I forget now what it is - I'll have to find it.

Here in PA, there's lots of talk of running Rick Santorum (yes, the most evil man on the face of the planet).
