RE: This ridiculous column
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/articles/A34168-2004Oct14.htmlDear Mr. Will:
As I scratch my head at your columns I have gotten about this far in the construction phase of many such emails and stopped right about here saying to myself, "nah, I'm sure his Inbox is cluttered with emails like this one." So I'm especially proud of myself that I've made it this far!
In reading your columns so many questions come to mind. So much bafflement. Consternation. Confusion. Since today's column is full of so much backwards pomposity and ANTI-AMERICAN hogwash I will take issue with just one of your points.
Liberalism, having lost its ability to advance by persuasion, increasingly relies on litigation. Sir, with all due respect, this country was founded on the principals of liberalism and has been moving towards a more liberal and free society since it's inception. It will, I suspect, continue to do so, the efforts of pundits like yourself, notwithstanding. Indeed it is the conservative mindset, you know the one most often associated with the wills of straight, white, men, that is fast disappearing. A final flailing for life as it grasps to every trace of everything it ever enjoyed before disappearing into a footnote in our country's history. Thank goodness and good riddance! Liberalism doesn't want all your money, your Godly values (or George Bush's for that matter), your two car garage, etc. - it wants the truth, and the truth it shall have. Lastly you say that "liberals" make it "impossible to navigate life without a lawyer in tow". Imagine that, a society where all citizens are expected to have intimate knowledge of THE LAWS that govern us. We can't have that, now can we?
Sincerely
Luke Williams
