2. I'm still mad at him for buying News World International
which is one of the best channels on digital cable, instead of some stupid shopping channel that never would have been missed.

3. unfortunately those stupid shopping channels
make tons of money for the people who own them, so they aren't going to be sold. NWI was up for sale. That's why he bought it.

5. Gore has been laughed at for every success he has had
I still remember people laughing at him for the Gore Bill, which created the Internet. Gore made a speech about the information superhiway, and people laughed at the name, laughed at the concept, and complained about the tax dollars being spent on it.

Gore's book on the environment was ridiculed by conservatives, but the science he used has become standard. People laughed at his prediction that the internal combustion engine would disappear by 2010. Even Bush is now predicting it. Gore's hybrid car program with the government was ridiculed. Limbaugh claimed the car should be called the Algore, and that it would never sell. Have you seen the waiting lists for Priuses?

Remember the Gore Commission in 1997? He claimed we needed to stadardize airport security, strengthen cockpit doors, better inspect baggage and passengers, and a whole series of suggestions? The Republicans killed the whole thing in committee on a straight party line vote. One said there has never been a foreign hijacking on American soil, and there never will be. After 9-11 every one of Gore's suggestions was adopted, although Bush was credited with them.

Gore is always so far ahead of the curve that people can't see what he sees. I don't even see what he's doing with this station, but I'd put my money on it being an earthshaking success, anyway. Everything Gore does turns out that way.

6. Great analysis!
Al Gore would have made such a great president. Kerry'll make a great one for sure.

7. And here's the report
http://www.fas.org/irp/threat/212fin~1.html

A big article, but an interesting excerpt:

Although the threat of terrorism is increasing, the danger of an individual becoming a victim of a terrorist attack -- let alone an aircraft bombing -- will doubtless remain very small. But terrorism isn't merely a matter of statistics. We fear a plane crash far more than we fear something like a car accident. One might survive a car accident, but there's no chance in a plane at 30,000 feet. This fear is one of the reasons that terrorists see airplanes as attractive targets. And, they know that airlines are often seen as national symbols.

When terrorists attack an American airliner, they are attacking the United States. They have so little respect for our values -- so little regard for human life or the principles of justice that are the foundation of American society -- that they would destroy innocent children and devoted mothers and fathers completely at random. This cannot be tolerated, or allowed to intimidate free societies. There must be a concerted national will to fight terrorism. There must be a willingness to apply sustained economic, political and commercial pressure on countries sponsoring terrorists. There must be an unwavering commitment to pursuing terrorists and bringing them to justice. There must be the resolve to punish those who would violate sanctions imposed against terrorist states.

9. This sounds better than I initially heard
At first, it sounded like another VH1. Lots of fluff and celebrity gossip. This doesn't sound bad.

I posted a commentary about it on my site:
