Saturday Run-In with inapporpriate wingnut woman
I cannot possibly review the entire conversation I had with this woman, so I will give you some highlights. I did my best to get in the house from her but my father the wingnut was visiting, and I was caught between them.

-Can I ask you a question? Why are you voting for John Kerry? (intonated as if I were planning on voting for a cow flop)

-The Iraq situation: Iraq is like the first layer of an onion. The rest of the middle east will now "come around." I assume that means to Christianity because that too was a recurring motif.

-abortion evil bla bla bla

-homosexuality evil bla bla bla

-Faux news great bla bla bla

-George Bush is my hero bla bla bla

-Jesus Jesus Jesus, God God God, Jesus Jesus Jesus, God God God

-AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point AM Radio Talking Point WHEW

-"Mexican" people come here to work and people hire them because blacks are too lazy to do the jobs or will not do them."

-"you just do not understand. You will understand when you grow up. Oh...you are 31? I thought you were about 21."

-We were missionaries in Izmar, Turkey, so I know all there is to know in the Middle East.

-Where do you go to church?

-I am trying to "fix" my daughter's black boyfriend who is a democrat. He is only a democrat because black people vote for democrats.

Guess what did that took her aback? I refused to admit to this liberal media bias crap. I refused to drop the connection between Cheney and Haliburton. Where do these condescending, patronizing racist ueber christian bitches come from?!?

1. don't know but wish Bush would lead them all to Mars to drink
koolaid or found their own country where they can then pick on each other. I delight in thinking about all of them, stuck together, with just each other and none of 'us'. What would be their new form of put down so they can feel superior (superior uneducated idiots).

8. I woulda LOVED to be in that conversation. Hoo, boy!
I'm a whole lot older than you; probably more the age of your dad and that woman. It would be a cold day in hell before I would back down from some backward spewing like that. That's just me, of course. :D

Sorry you got stuck there but BRAVO for the stands you took!

9. Fundamentalism: All fear, all the time...
Edited on Mon Oct-18-04 06:17 PM by rezmutt
Evil, evil, evil, evil, evil, evil, evil. Terror, terror, terror, terror, terror. Satan, Satan, Satan, Satan, Satan.

Jaysus, what **century** is this? Next, they'll be burning witches and smearing their foreheads with ashes -- or worse!

:scared:

On edit: Even fundamentalist Christianity doesn't work without massive doses of fear -- take away the threat of hellfire and eternal damnation, and their whole game turns to mush!

Good thing I wasn't there, I'd have turned the garden hose on her! :grr: Good job, though, for keeping your cool and staying on message.

10. Thank you
I do not drink much caffeine because I have panic disorder, and I had a cup of coffee earlier that day. So I was really tweeky already. This confrontation got my blood boiling. Add to that that, even though I am working on a PhD I am not a fan of arguing and debating. So I am thankful that I found as much fortitude as I did.

11. Wow, tough luck for you
They're so hard to get rid of because they don't listen to what you say, even if you're saying, "Get away from my house, you freaking moronic wacko".

I'm a fairly polite person and it's taken a lot of practice for me to just be able to say, "look, if I wanted your opinion, I'd give it to you" and then shut the door in their face.

In answer to the "where do you go to church", I generally tell them, "Oh, I dance naked in the yard on Friday nights - you're welcome to stop by."

14. Being black, the views on blacks infuriate me...
Republicans have to believe lies that demonize blacks and other minorities to justify their evil doing. If the fucking idiots who fall for this drivvel would actually use their own brains--and eyes and ears, they'd see more than stereotypes which do nothing but rob people of their individuality. The ignorance of people who assume all blacks (or whites, or gays...) are alike makes me sick.

Limbaugh laid the foundation for this kind of thinking when he said blacks' votes and our issues don't count since we're only 13% of the population. If that is true, then why is Jeb sending state troopers to the homes of blacks to discourage them from voting?

You have to wonder what is really at stake, what's driving them to reinforce this kind of thinking? I think it's to try to remove any sense of empathy or responsibility this country may have for the systemic, ingrained discrimination that's taken place for more than a century because it costs them and their dearly beloved corporations.
