Just chatted with my brother-in-law in Iraq. |
|
He said his Kerry vote is in the mail!!! :D :D :D
The whole time we were online he said there were mortars going off. He can't even make it to the chow hall because of the round-the-clock mortars. Most of the guys just end up cooking something on their hot plate in their barracks instead of risking a trip.
He also said that he is mad as hell at Bush.
He said that the military is just a "number" to Bush and that number now is 1,101
;( ;(

7. We pressed him on that |
|
and he said there's still a lot of guys voting for *. But, he also said that there were a lot who were pissed off and would definitely not consider re-enlisting, even though they are being offered huge bonuses.
My brother-in-law was one of those guys caught in the stop-loss. He had been active duty for a few years and reserve/guard for over a dozen and he was supposed to get out about two months before they told him he was going to Iraq.
Sadly, I'm pretty sure that he was a Bush supporter before getting shipped out. We visited with him and his family before he left a few months ago and they didn't know a damn thing about Iraq or why the hell we were there. We've been sending him all kinds of emails and links about what * is doing to veterans and he's become quite well informed.
My husband and I are both veterans so we know how brainwashed people in the military can be. You're in your own little world. At least when I was in during Vietnam there were a lot of draftees and the brainwashing wasn't nearly as strong as it has become since Rush and the right-wing spin machine have had almost total access to the troops. It's pretty sad that they've convinced most of these poor people to vote against their own self-interest.

9. I guess they can launch those mortars from quite a distance |
|
right onto the base.
We've sent him a lot of foodstuff so he can eat in his own quarters. You're right. It's pretty damn sad.

Even though I think a majority of military might support *, I don't think it's anywhere near what those bogus polls show.

6. Why don't we hear about the round the clock mortars???? |
|
Oh yeah, I forgot that the media is complicit in all of this and we're supposed to think that BlunderBoy's* grand plan is still grand (as if it ever was), and we're turning a corner, and things are going real swell.

And this isn't even in Baghdad. It's been non-stop.
He was coming back from the latrine recently (yeah - you gotta dodge mortars to go to the latrine, too) when a huge blast of rocks, etc. hit his door just as he shut it.
Guess he should just get a pair of rose-colored glasses like Drinky McDumbass and carry on like everything's fine.
