My best friend, the city councilman...(and a sad Iraq story)
I just posted earlier tonight that my best friend, who was elected to his city council this year was having dinner with Michigan Governor Jennifer Granholm. My friend is a strong Democrat, a fellow Air Force vet whose step-son is now serving in Iraq as, of all things, a mental health specialist.

Anyway, just after I posted, he called to tell me about the fundraiser. It was for a state rep whose name now escapes me. Something like Kathy (or Cathy) Angerer. He said it went really well and he sent me some pictures of him with his Governor. I promise you, my friend is a rising star. What a good guy. We are SO proud of him.

While we were on the phone, he got an e-mail from his aunt. Some kid who is somehow related to him (don't remember exactly how) was in a truck that was hit by a roadside bomb in Iraq a few days ago. His two friends were killed and this kid is in Germany now, with apparently half of his skull missing. He's in pretty bad shape. If I hear something more, I'll post it, but I don't know this kid. This is important to my friend, therefore it's important to me...they're all important to me.

Send out some good thoughts please.

2. "Half his skull missing" much more graphic than simply "wounded".
For all the many thousands of wounded US soldiers, it would be an overwhelmingly powerful motivator to vote for Kerry if people read explicit descriptions of the endless list of maimed and crippled and blinded and horribly injured young Americans thanks to Bush.
