Idea for getting non-fundie religious bush voters over to Kerry's side
Out here in Arizona we have our Latino Catholics and Catholics for the most part. Many of you also have your Christian base whatever denomination they may be largely.

Now I am not talking about converting over the radical fundie terminally bigoted right that's not happening.

But for example, out here many Catholics who although have their hearts in the right place may be voting for Bush because they simply do not know the issues, they have no idea of what's going on in Iraq, they really think Bush is pro-life and we're fighting Saddam's forces because of 9-11

Now I am Latino and Catholic and this Sunday I am goin for it I am going after that base here in Tucson. My friend and I are going to make fliers that read" Is This Pro-Life?" and either show a picture of a dead soldier or civilian or both, and list the factual stats concerning the unecessary and horrific loss of life due to this war based on lies.

We will place those fliers on the cars of those parked in front of the Cathedral I attend on Sunday which means hundreds of cars will be "hit" by us with these fliers.

For me at least the Latino Catholic vote does not belong to Bush for a number of reasons but mainly, they are not the sort that are benfitting from Bush's economic and healthcare policies.

They are more than likely open minded and willing to hear both sides. If they are voting for Bush solely based on misinformation such as what I mentioned, maybe these fliers will get them to think of their own sons and daughters who are the same age as those being killed in Iraq or very likely it's their kids themselves that are out there just so that they can afford a college degree.

I plan on distributing these fliers to every Catholic church I know and if possible get in touch with those of other denominations and even religions to do the same thing at their churches or places of worship.

I know more than likely you people here at DU are not pussyfooting around preaching to the choir, you're out there facing off against undecided independents and moderate Republicans and THAT'S who we need to be talking to. Democrats and liberals are already voting for Kerry we don't need to talk to them we need to get in touch however with voters who would vote for Kerry if ONLY the truth could be unveiled for them and if it could hit home with them.

What do you guys think of this idea?

1. You could also mention that because of the poor economy
under Bush, it's estimated that there were 52,000 MORE abortions in 2002 than during the Clinton administration, when the abortion rate was at a 24 year low. Here's were the figures came from:

Also, the depleted uranium that they using for ammunition turns to dust on impact, contaminating the air, water and soil. It has a radioactive halflife of 4.5 BILLION YEARS. Since the first Gulf War, the rate of cancer in Iraq has gone up 700% to 1000%. The rate of deformities has gone up 400% to 600%.

You can watch a flash animation about the effects of depleted uranium here:
