Court TV 5:20 PM ET: Amended counterclaim against O'Reilly, Fox, NY Post
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 05:20 PM by undisclosedlocation
Fundamentally saying that News Corp is using the Post to retaliate against accuser. They're claiming it's an exclusive; I'll look for links momentarily.

Edit: Here's a link, but it's from 10 this morning; may have been further amended since then
http://www.courttv.com/news/oreilly/docs/mackriscomplaint.html

EditEdit: This is the same crap you usually have to put up with trying to keep up with a story on tv. They've updated their site to the point that Bill O'Reilly is now the top news story, but they haven't updated the counterclaim page, or at least they don't mention anything about the Post there. What Lisa Bloom was saying is that the countersuit now mentions the hit pieces in the Post specifically. She also addressed the Post story linked below about Mackris' novel, saying she had read the entire thing and that it was clearly a work of fiction and not an attack on O'Reilly.

I apologize for lack of further details; hopefully Court TV or Smoking Gun will update soon.

Final edit (I swear): The other point was that Lisa Bloom had it in advance of the papers actually being filed in court. Thus, look for this at the Smoking Gun or Court TV sites tomorrow morning.

'BOOZY' BOAST

By DAREH GREGORIAN

October 19, 2004 -- The woman who's suing TV personality Bill O'Reilly for sexual harassment boasted she had written a book to "take down" — months before she went back to work for him, a witness swore yesterday.
Andrea Mackris also bragged that she was good buddies with O'Reilly's arch nemesis — Air America talk show host Al Franken, the witness said.

"What we thought we had here was somebody trying to hit us up for a lot of money, but now we know it's much more than that," said O'Reilly's lawyer, Ronald Green.

Green said the bombshell revelation came from Upper West Side restaurateur Matthew Paratore, who owns a bar that Fox associate producer Andrea Mackris used to frequent — before she was barred for loud, lewd and indecent behavior at the beginning of the summer.

(more, if you haven't had enough already)

There's another story, which I'll post momentarily if it's germane.

'FLIPPING OUT'

By TODD VENEZIA

October 15, 2004 -- The woman accusing Bill O'Reilly of sex harassment threw a hissy fit inside a tony Midtown hotel bar last week and then sneered to onlookers that she works for "The O'Reilly Factor," a Manhattan chef told The Post yesterday.
"She literally verbally attacked and abused and harassed us at The Peninsula hotel, like a raving lunatic," said Bethenny Frankel, a chef and owner of a cookie-making company. "It was very strange."

The altercation allegedly started when Frankel asked Andrea Mackris if she could borrow two chairs from a four-person table where the TV producer was having a drink with her handicapped mother.

Frankel and a friend who witnessed the debacle last Friday say Mackris refused to yield a chair and became abusive, leading to an angry altercation.

Incredibly, no matter how low the Post goes, they always find new depths to plumb.

9. Today, Franken denied he had anything to do with it
At the end of his program today, he said that he did have dinner with Andrea M. 6 months ago. She contacted him and they had dinner at a restaurant he and his wife frequented. Andrea M. advised Franken of what Bill O. said about Franken during her phone conversations with Bill O. Franken then finished his statement on air today saying that he had nothing to do with her lawsuit against O'Reilly.

12. Yes. News Corp = Murdoch = Fox = NY Post
also the Dodgers unless they ever got that sale done. And yeah, that's the supposition, that they're trying to tar Mackris so badly that she'll give up.

13. Here's the 2d amended complaint
specifically the page with the New York Post story and its refutation:
http://www.courttv.com/news/oreilly/docs/mackrisamended.html?page=21
They'll have to amend it again for the 2d story, and for every other instance of slander and libel News Corp spews out every day.
