2. Give us some details please!
You know people think of Carter as an old softie, but he gave a ROUSING speech at the convention. He is very aware of how evil this administration is, and he calls them on it!:-)

5. Detail's here...
President Carter was very professional, as always, and he told Chris that we need to get back to where we were with the Middle East and Peace. He brought up the Fact that under GWB Arab countries that were our allies in the Past have only a 5% approval of American policy ast the Current time. He kept saying that after the election he hopes that no matter what happens policy's will change, that we are heading in a dangerous and very bad direction. He sounded wonderful, thoughtful and very Presidential. I think anyone who saw that realized he wants Bush gone even though he didn't actually say it. He is such a wonderful man and I could tell that Chris really looks up to him as we all should. He showed courage, definitely try to see Hardball today if you get a chance!!!

3. Again tonight? I saw him last night and it was so nice to

see a former president who was articulate, able to analyze recent events, and remained a pleasant person.

I couldn't imagine Jimmy Carter calling anyone "a slimeball" as Poppy Bush said about Michael Moore, could you? He has too much class, and he knows that presidents being criticized is something that goes with the job.

4. Dems have been fortunate to have candidates and winners with brains
Kennedy, Carter, Mondale, Clinton, Gore, McGovern, and others. Candidates should have to pass tests on history (all kinds of histories), political science, cultures and customs, economics, language - plus some science - in addition to the bible.

fyi; christians and bible not capitalized in my world until they promise separation of church and state (and/or temple/mosque/holy place).

9. i was chatting with my dad a few nights ago and i turned
on C-Span and we bumped into Carter and his wife talking about the Carter Center and the work around the world that they do and then had Q&A...we just sat and watched it and both commented on how a real president is....the Q&A was mighty interesting too....he is very harsh on keeping church and state separate, even though his father was a minister or something...said his dad instilled in him a respect for other religions and that gummint and church must remain wide apart....

10. Wasn't he just excellent! You can tell by my avatar that he is my hero
He was excellent on both Letterman and Chris Matthews, last night. It didn't hurt that both men seem to be serious admirers of the president. The thing is, Jimmy Carter has an understanding of both world affairs and the Middle East, far superior than this current administration. He explained how Bush I did things right, bringing in allies, especially those from Arab countries, like Egypt, Saudi Arabia and Jordan, and this is we need to do. He also said that we need to respect the difference in cultures. Duh! This Bush* needs to realize that Iraqis don't want his democracy. They just want clean water and electricity, which they had under Saddam Hussein. The least that Americans in Iraq can do is to make good on their promises. And President Carter is right, in that we need to get out, as occupiers, and let them fashion their own future. He also said what I believe, which Bush*-Cheney is denying. Iraq won't be ready for elections by January. This just takes too much work and preparation. Iraq is just too chaotic. This is Carter's field of expertise, since he has monitored elections all overt the world, so he knows about what is required.:-(
