We've got a whole industry that's trained people to think this way. I've heard these callers before- they anxiously yap out the little angle they came up with. They sound as if they think they've outsmarted reality, and they can't wait to get a pat on the head.

It's like they're constantly trying to prove that they're more indoctrinated than the next guy. It's very strange.

But the whole "pat on the head" for their "trenchant" observation thing, like you say Cat Atomic, has just been so dummed down by Hannity and his ilk that the recently emerging Du-ism "reality-based" is growing painfully resonant, isn't it? We better watch out. It may become an epithet like "liberal," i.e., "reality-based elitists," "reality-based media," etc.
