A thought for later ... How should President Kerry go about
unifying and healing this broken and bleeding nation? How does he ... do we ... reach across the chasm that separates the two sides of this country?

Is it necessary?

1. He needs to reach out to the havenots first and then
let the love trickle up from there.

8. Ah! the trickle-up theory. Wonder if it works better than the
counterpart? I like it.

2. yes it's nessecary
remember clinton's long years of fighting off ridiculous investigations

we have to be loud and be proud

we have to get AAR and other progressive hosts on TV and the radio

we have to support organizations that research and support our world view

we have to be kind and infomative to our brain washed neighbors and family

we have to!!

3. It starts with communication
Kerry must have an open Presidency, in that he has press conferences and speeches to the people. He should use the office as a bully pulpit to explain to folks why it is important, for example, to put fairness back in the FCC, and end media consolodation.

Kerry's job will be made a lot easier if we all work to make sure good Democrats are elected to Congress.

4. He needs to start by assembling a team to fight off all of the
dirty allegations that will be thrown at him. If you were tired of the Rose Law Firm, Whitewater stories, you ain't seen nothing. After he has assembled the team to take care of the lies that are sure to come, he can go about making America a place to be proud of again.

5. First, he will have a VP and a house leader that will invite the
opposition to meetings. With the Bushco out of the way, Sen. McCain will likely be the de facto head of the remains of the Repug party, so he will get a lot more cooperation. It can only go uphill from here.

6. Start off by calling all the other heads of countries
and say, "Hi, I'm John. George went back to Texas."

That ought to start things off better, to begin with.

11. Hmm.
Whatever he does to please them will upset us. It's like trench warfare--a lot of blood for a few inches of ground. One man alone can't unite the country. In fact, there's only one man who can even unite the "blue" side of the country--and that's Bush!

If the Democratic party wants to survive this civil cold war, here would be my advice. Take the long view and reach out to youth. Focus on recent grads from college, h.s., j.c.'s; give those people a chance. Give the soldiers coming home a square deal, good benefits, a chance at a job and home ownership. Just because we're in a demographic rectangle right now doesn't mean the boomers and "Greatest Gen." are going to live forever. If the opportunities for youth keep shrinking, the whole life expectancy factor will be over with anyhow!
