This is an Outrage! How many Americans wil die because Bush outsourced the Flu vaccine and screwed it up? How is it that the United States has less Flu Vaccine than that third world country to the North Bush referred to...CANADA! Why is it that some people's lives are worth more to Republicans than others? Is a prisoner's life worth more than hard working Americans that follow the rules? Apparently so according to Bush's policies.

Type A (H1N1) and Type B.....it was the Type A (H3N2) that caused the 1968 virus PANDEMIC...the vaccine is called "Fluzone"

Among certain persons, influenza can exacerbate underlying medical conditions (e.g., pulmonary or cardiac disease), lead to secondary bacterial pneumonia or primary influenza viral pneumonia, or occur as part of a co-infection with other viral or bacterial pathogens. YOUNG CHILDREN with influenza infection can have initial symptoms mimicking bacterial sepsis with high fever and less than 20 % of children hospitalized with influenza can have febrile seizures. Influenza infection has also been associated with encephalopathy, transverse myelitis, Reye syndrome, myositis, myocarditis and pericarditis.

realizes that the flip side of this being a public health disaster in the making is that it could restore our democracy by resulting in a Kerry landslide.

5. Nope, you're wrong. This is only a big issue...

...because the media is making it so. The Kerry landslide will happen simply because of voter turnout. The only way bush can win is by stealing it again, and I don't think many people are going to let that happen this time.

Flu vaccines are designed at least six months in advance of flu season based on what strain is "most likely" to be the worst. They are only slightly more accurate than weather people in guessing which of the many strains in a flu season are "most likely" to be the worst. Even then, the most at-risk people are a minority of the voting population. I'm sure bush was incompetent and lied about it as per his modus operandi, but this is really just a distraction from the unnecessary Iraq war and the horrible failure of the economy.

6. Apparently you are not part of the "minority" that needs the vaccine.

I am, due to multiple chronic medical problems.

Senior citizens are also high-risk and senior citizens vote in huge numbers. Whether this turns more people towards voting for Kerry or simply makes them decide not to support Bush*, this is an important issue.

Pregnant women are also high-risk, as are children under two years. I'm guessing parents of young kids and pregnant women and their husbands are going to be upset by this, too.

This is something that hits people at home. Most people, unfortunately, do not care much about people killed in Iraq, unless a family member is killed there. "After all, those people knew when they signed up they might get killed." They don't understand a lot of 'complicated' political issues (though they can probably tell you the rules for "Survivor" and "American Idol," plus the plotlines of dozens of movies and tv shows they've seen. What's the 4th Amendment? Zzzzzzzzzz.

But a possible flu epidemic that could potentially kill them or a close relative can get through to people. Its' already gotten through to outraged senior citizens.
