WHAT IS GOING ON??!!!! AGHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!
What the hell is going on in America today. I have some guy trying to attack my mother at church because she isn't going to vote for George W. Bush, there are people writing articles saying that God has given us George to lead us and America is not worthy of having such a man of prayer like he is. People are burning political signs and bashing out people's car windows for having John Kerry stickers.

How is this election even close. George W. Bush took us into a war for no reason. Let me repeat this. George W. Bush took us into a war for no reason that did not have to be fought. There are no weapons, no terrorist ties, no nothing but no one sees anything wrong with that!!!! I have people telling me John Kerry is evil because of abortion but the same people support WARS!!!! WARS KILL PEOPLE -- INNOCENT PEOPLE AND CHILDREN!!!! Are these people telling me that bombs dropped on neighborhoods know which people to kill? What is the difference?

We've lost thousands of jobs. When asked a question about outsourcing he tells people to go to community colleges!!!!!! WHAT??!!! GWB is out of touch with reality.

We've lost our civl rights.

We've had the biggest terrorist attack in American history on GWBs watch.

We've been alienated from our allies.

He continually makes a bumbling fool of himself every time he speaks off the script and he cannot take criticism. Sometimes I think he "will not" take criticism.

But people love this man? How is this election even close?

3. Look them straight in the eye and tell them:
This is the form that the AntiChrist assumes. And you, for one, refuse to vote for the AntiChrist.

Be completely serious. Never let go of their eyes.

5. another thing
Another thing that gets me is some idiot said "John Kerry would wait until we are attacked to do something about it," and I'm like THAT'S EXACTLY WHAT GEORGE BUSH DID ISN'T IT?????!!!!! Then he attakced another country for no reason!!!

So, by this logic, can China launch an assault on us. We have weapons of mass destruction. We're getting trigger happy.

Can N. Korea? Iran? Mexico?

4. In the past...
... I used to defend Americans (possibly because I am one) when someone would attack them as being 'stupid' (I've lived overseas for 7 years and have heard this a lot!). I've changed my mind. If half of America votes for that fraud, then it means that Americans are just as stupid as the rest of the world thinks they are, if not more stupid.

DUers of course are the smart Americans. :-)

12. I've spend much of the past four years
defending Bush supporters as not dumb, not evil, but simply misinformed. I've come to the realization that it's more than that. Sure, many are nice people in the day-to-day definition of what nice people are.

But it's more than being misinformed. The truth is there and it's flat out being ignored.

Baby killer? If the stats I've seen are accurate, the abortion rate has risen in the Bush years because of economic woes. Baby killer? Bush's mistaken war is killing real babies.

They're not misinformed. They're blinded.

13. I use to think that ignorance was to blame
but now blame racsism and greed. It is at the heart of even the those to the left. The far left seems to be able to at least recognize it but still are reluctant of the change neccesary to correct it. See we don't wan't to have less things.... less food.......Less freedom... We won't go back and you can't make us........

19. thanks!
Americans are no more stupid then are canadians brits french or anyone else. But the american electorate is THE MOST POWERFUL on earth, and thus are both the most studied and the most manipulated; and beyond this media can write 'truth' as it goes along, as you saw it do in reaction to bush's sad performance in the debates. There is a 'stupid, ignorant, racist, bullyboy element in USA, but canada's is is nasty as the US; canada fortunately has Quebec as its 2nd largest province, and quebec prevents the canadian ruling class from outright joining the US (the country break up unless quebec catered to somewhat, this is why canada never join anglo saxon led 'coalition') What it appears is happening starting with Reagan 'election' is that a violent and angry minority are trying to seize control of USA but they want to preserve those things that make america great, such as freedom and freedon means being able to disobey etc, so there's a fine line....the busheviks hope to be able to just say to the people 'we won, not by much, but we won' despite getting swamped by their opponents, and their media will drill it into the national consciousness day after day....
there's a coup going on, a 'putsch' just like in a banana republic, but that will NEVER BE ADMITTED by anyone in media even if it means the USA is broken up into pieces....

... the grand giant is awakening. Good things are happening.

Go read some of the Bush endorsements. You'll see that even the supporters don't much like Bush and are frightened for the very reason you mention.

This vitriol on the repubs part -- just may be a last gasp.

The Wal-Mart cashier, or the wheel-alignment guy, or whatever, doesn't mind cutting his or her own throat economically, because he or she knows, or thinks he knows, that when he or she votes Bush she or he is voting for someone who will work to ensure:
  • that at Jesus' name every knee shall bend
  • that taxes will never go up, and services will never go down
  • that foreigners will tremble when they see our might
  • that they'll get to 'keep their guns'
  • that The Other -- women, fags, liberals, coloreds -- won't 'get them'

And finally and most important:
  • that all change will stop.

I know, and you know, that this is a farrago of metaphysical impossibilities and political surds. I know that all the GOP voter will receive on some of these points is lip service.

The question remains: since RFK died has anyone made a case as short, sweet, and compelling to be made for voting Democratic?

You don't refute a theology or mythology with facts -- you confront it with an alternative theology or mythology.

14. That's the problem, Davis_X_Machina
The Republicanites are so much more media savvy and skilled at pushing people's emotional buttons. I've seen this since the Reagan era.

The only one who even came close was Dennis Kucinich, but he was alternately ignored and ridiculed in the press, tagged with the "he can't win" meme before a single vote had been cast or a single caucus had met. (If Dean supporters think their guy was dissed in the media, well, at least he was mentioned on a consistent basis.)

Big Media will not allow anyone with vision and the common touch to gain national prominence. One can say that DK was not telegenic (I, as a supporter, admit that he looks like a cross between Ross Perot and Jerry Mathers), but I doubt that he would have gotten decent coverage even if he had looked like John Kerry.

The average joe doesn't keep up on news like we do. They get their news off tube and the networks don't cover all the bush catastrophes because they suck off the GOP teat. Another problem is that democrats don't scream like they should about what's happened in the last 4 years.

we invaded Iraq and Afghanistan to control the oil and the natural gas pipeline.

so....it wasn't for NOTHING, but it was for something that doesn't really help the war on terror so much as it helps the neocon agenda.

otherwise, I completely agree with your post.

22. An "Open Letter" To Bush Supporters ...
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 11:03 PM by 2004 Victory
This election should be a no-brainer for the American people ...

We were attacked during the presidential watch of George W. Bush. Over 3,000 were horrifically killed.

Bush adamantly OPPOSED an investigation of this attack on America.

When FORCED to appoint a commission, we find out that he was warned in August 2001 in a briefing paper entitled "Bin Laden Determined to Strike in the U.S." that Al Qaeda was planning to strike with airplanes and the intelligence indicated it would be soon. New York and Washington were mentioned in the briefing. There was no alert in the government. The FAA was not forewarned. The FBI was not taking seriously the information from its field agents. In fact, the FBI had a agent that LIVED with two of the hijackers in San Diego. Bush's defense?? There was no specific time given in the briefings.

We strike back. Go into Afghanistan. Bin Laden is cornered in the mountains at Tora Bora. Unbelievably, the US Special Forces are ordered to stand down while the job of nabbing Bin Laden is given to warring factions of Afghan militia that were switching sides week by week. Bin Laden gets away.

We pull out of Afghanistan after installing a Unocal consultant as president of the country. He immediately begins negotiations to build the oil pipeline from the Caspian Sea through Afghanistan -- that Unocal and Chevron have desired for years. Our National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice came to the administration from Chevron - they even named an oil tanker for her.

We attack Iraq ostensibly because of weapons of mass destruction that were threatening America -- and because Saddam had ties to the 9/11 hijackers. We're promised a short war with the liberated Iraqi people throwing flowers at our feet. The war is short. No WMDs. No link with Al Qaeda. Over 1,000 American soldiers dead and counting. 10,000+ Iraqi civilians dead and counting. We don't protect the Iraqi infrastructure. We do protect the oil fields. We're quickly bogged down in a quagmire. Just as in Vietnam, we don't know who the enemy is anymore. Then we're torturing and abusing prisoners at Abu Graib. Turns out most of them were innocent Iraqis picked up in dragnets. Now we're hated by the people our soldiers went there to protect and defend. Terrorists swarm into Iraq across unprotected borders. Kidnappings, beheadings, terror in the streets of Baghdad not seen even during the reign of the terrible Saddam.

We soldier the burdens of military occupation in personal and financial costs. The deficit soars. The debt is out of control. Bush pushes through massive tax cuts for millionaires and mega-corporations. Education legislation not funded. Senior presciption assistance becomes give-away to the pharmaceutical companies. The borders are porous. Homeland Security is a joke with yellow and orange alerts, but no homeland protection for chemical and nuclear plants, no inspections of airplane cargo holds. Bush cuts taxes again -- for millionaires and mega-corporations. Worst economy since 1929. America becoming two-class system: the wealthy and the struggling. Huge job losses and lay-off. Bush says we're going to educate the unemployed, apparently thinking that the unemployed are illiterates on welfare. No answers for all the engineers, teachers, accountants and other college educated workers left destitute and jobless, with no hope in sight.

Bin Laden's still out there threatening future spectacular events against America -- and Bush professes not to care about him anymore.

Bush runs for reelection in the only way he and Karl Rove know -- lies and smears against his opponent. The MO has been seen over and over again with these men. Setting up bogus and so-called "independent" groups to do the dirty work, with a thin veneer of separation between campaign and smear groups.

Should this man and his minions be returned to power after a blatant and criminal mismanagement of the government of the United States? I, for one, don't know how anyone could vote for him and sleep at night

Jim Baker. Jimmy Swaggert. Pat Robertson. Gene Scott. There's a whole host of them, brought to you by God and the teevee. They paved the way for George Bush. They've just been programmed to accept that when someone gets on the teevee and says they're "born again", that's all that matters. Pure evil and they just don't see it. I really do understand Germany now and will never wonder how that happened again.

29. Bush To Be Kicked Out Of His Church
Bush To Be Kicked Out Of His Church

We, the undersigned, do hold that George W. Bush, a member of Park Hill United Methodist Church (UMC) in Dallas, Texas, and Dick Cheney (local membership unknown) are undeniably guilty of at least four chargeable offenses for lay members as listed in 2702.3 of the 2000 Book of Discipline of The United Methodist Church. http://www.gcfa.org/boderrata.pdf
These offenses are: crime, immorality, disobedience to the Order and Discipline of The UMC, and dissemination of doctrine contrary to the established standards of doctrine of The UMC. For these offenses, we the undersigned call for an immediate and public act of repentance by the respondents. If the respondents do not reply with sincere and public repentance for their crimes, we demand that their membership in the United Methodist Church be revoked until such time that they sincerely and publicly repent.

Iraq War 'Unjustifiable', says Bush's Church Head
by Ed Vulliamy in New York
http://www.commondreams.org/headlines02/1020-02.htm

President George Bush's own Methodist church has launched a scathing attack on his preparations for war against Iraq, saying they are 'without any justification according to the teachings of Christ'.

Jim Winkler, head of social policy for United Methodists, added that all attempts at a 'dialogue' between the President and his own church over the war had fallen on deaf ears at the White House.

His remarks came as the US continued its efforts to achieve agreement on a UN resolution that would open the way for a tough program of weapons inspections in Iraq. France is believed to be concerned that the current draft resolution might still act as a trigger for military intervention without a full Security Council debate if Iraq fails to comply.

Winkler is general secretary of the Board of Church and Society for the United Methodist church, which counts the President and the Vice-President, Dick Cheney, among its members. The church represents eight to nine million regular churchgoers and is the third biggest in America.

The Methodist Church, he says, is not pacifist, but 'rejects war as a usual means of national policy'. Methodist scriptural doctrine, he added, specifies 'war as a last resort, primarily a defensive thing. And so far as I know, Saddam Hussein has not mobilized military forces along the borders of the United States, nor along his own border to invade a neighboring country, nor have any of these countries pleaded for our assistance, nor does he have weapons of mass destruction targeted at the United States'.
