Bill O'Reilly has a daughter
Edited on Tue Oct-19-04 10:43 PM by nothingshocksmeanymo
I wonder what he would think if a man in the workplace said those things to her in order to lead her to believe she'd be promoted or keep her job if only she humored his perversions.

Would he still think sexual harassment lawsuits were the work of extortionists?

IF there were a SINGLE question ANY interviewer could ask him, that is the one I'd like to hear the answer to.

Would you wish for your daughter to be treated the way you treat women in the workplace?

2. not surprising
we have lots of men on the DU who think prostitution and stripping is just A-OK - as long as it's not their wife or daughter doing it.

6. What if "some" of the men here
Think prostitution and stripping or any form of sex work is a-ok as long as it's a woman's choice to do so? Even for their daughters and wives? That perhaps it's only some warped religious training that tells us there's something wrong with sex work? Something to be ashamed of?
I've seen the posts I THINK you're referring to, and I agree that there are some very "unenlightened" liberals here. I just disagree with your example...

4. These older guys don't think anything is wrong with
what they do. They truly believe, from a former era, that a bit of sexual tom foolery in the office is just fine and nothing to get one's knickers in a twist about. THEY REALLY BELIEVE THIS. It wouldn't bother him if his daughter went through this either. He'd tell her to just laugh it off...don't let it bother you.

The bulk of the older generation of males are like this. It was acceptable for men to pinch women's behinds and make sexual innuendo in those days (sleep your way to the top even)...It was "normal" behavior and widely accepted. It's been rough for these old dudes to get with the "changes" in this new era. Flirting and hanky panky in the work place is still acceptable in Europe even.

Bill is only repentant(if at all) because he got caught; not because he thinks he did anything wrong.

7. Absolutely not!
My daughters have been taught to have tolerance for those that "don't know any better", but that they should NEVER tolerate someone in a position of power threatening their livelihoods or physical well-being. The lessons have taken...
