We had a flu vaccine crisis last year too. |

1. you're right - wasn't it that they hadn't figured out which strains were |
prevalent so effective vaccine wasn't made in time?

2. but but but bunkerboy said that if a National Health Care program were |
instituted, we'd have to RATION HEALTH CARE SERVICES, and that our current system was just peachy because EVERYONE HAS ACCESS TO GREAT HEALTHCARE WITHOUT ANY RATIONING!

3. Someone posted a link in a thread yesterday, I think, |
they haven't had enough vaccine to go around for at least three years. The problem arose later in the season the past few years. Mr. Nownow and I considered getting our shots last year -- by the time we started asking around, though, nobody had any. That was the middle of November. This isn't even anything new -- it's just worse this year because half the batch is contaminated. Don't know if it goes back farther, but it apparently goes back at least three flu seasons.

4. My hisband reminded me of this as soon as he heard of the |
shortage this year. I had forgotten. I never get a flu shot, but he does. It was because they said they have to predict theflu strain 9 months ahead of time, and they guessed wrong last year.

I posted that and somebody told me I was nuts. Then again, some Repub senior citizens told me there's no shortage at all because "I got my shot." I swear, that's what they said.

6. Getting worried about this... |
...is like worrying that a meteorite may hit you in the head. They only make a vaccination for one or two flu strains that they think are "most likely" to be the worst in a given year, anyway. Condoms have a better reliability track record.
