Anybody here ever heard of National Youth Leadership Forum?
My son came home with a letter from his computer teacher today from them. His teacher wants to recommend him for a spot in their summer "Forum on Technology". I googled it and came up with this site http://www.nylf.org/ and their other offerings made me wonder if they could be a front for future drafts?

I don't think this would be anything that I would allow my child to attend, not just the fear factor of their D.C. addresses (because a whois tells me that they are actually housed in Bethesda not DC) but the fee involved is outrageous!

Anybody have any experience with this group at all out there? Something about them just set my red flags flying.

3. I checked that out -- check out the other programs they offer
don't they seem to fall inline with the skills draft? Or is it just me? Seems that those are the areas that that draft would be loking for and what better way to locate them than to gather as many together as you can with something like this.

One of the "speakers" they have is from Lockheed Martin! They could have others that are questionable as well, just haven't gotten that deep yet. I was hoping that someone had some experience to relate personally.

2. waste of money...
I wanted to do it in HS but I didn't. A lot of my friends at school went to it. It's kind of cool to see DC, but it's nothing that special or enriching. A ton of kids do it so it's not special on a college app either. Save your $2500

4. They don't actually have the forums in DC, just have an address there
Now they have their forums in San Jose. You pay the money for the forums and also your airfare. Just makes me wonder if they have "other motives" besides making money.

I mean, these are their "offerings"

Forum on Defense, Intelligence
& Diplomacy
Forum on Law
Forum on Medicine
Forum on Nursing
Forum on Technology

Something just stinks about this whole group to me.
