An Open Letter to President George W. Bush
October 19, 2004

Dear Mr. President:

It is the desire and intention of many of the people gathered here, sheltered within the tunnels of the internets, to fire you from your eminent post. You have demonstrated neither the aptitude, nor wisdom, nor integrity necessary to fulfill the requirements of your current post throughout the past four years.

We want to present you with your walking papers on November 2nd, 2004. We believe we will do so. We are voting even as this letter is being composed. We want to help you to understand why we choose John Kerry to be our next President.

John Kerry is a good man who has demonstrated strength of character, bravery and integrity throughout his long war.

I met him here within these rooms on the internets. I don’t recommend that you visit this site. The movie is lengthy, and you will be startled as you recognize your own inadequacies. http://www.kerrysupport.com/upriver/

We are outraged at your blatant disregard for the civil rights of citizens of foreign nations and citizens of the United States of America. Our rights in this country have been seriously eroded under your administration. You seek to edit the Constitution of the United States of American to limit freedom and pursuit of happiness for a targeted group of people. You have disregarded the Geneva Convention in refusing to classify detainees as Prisoners of War. You blinked rapidly when the inhuman policies at Abu Ghraib were reported. In the arena of human rights, Mr. President, you have failed us.

In your early career, legend has it that you expressed your failure to understand poor people. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/17/magazine/17BUSH.html

Listen in here for a while, Mr. President. You will meet the wives of soldiers. They are terrified because they are alone, and because of the economic hardship your war has imposed upon them and their children.

You will meet the mothers and fathers of soldiers who seek comfort. They pray without ceasing for their child’s safe return.

You will meet “them damn queers” here too. Perhaps you will be able to tell who they are, and if you are offended, we do not apologize.

You will meet young adolescents (I surmise they are young,) as well. They have learned their political language from you and your pundits. Mostly these folks spew hatred. Try not to take it personally. It’s possible they listen to Michael Savage too much.

You will meet veterans of this unholy war who you have harmed. You will meet widows. You will meet parents bereft of their children. These are people who know that you are a murderer. You have blood on your hands, Mr. President. In the arena of Foreign Relations, you have failed us.

We invite you to listen in here, to understand why
===== YOU’RE FIRED! =====

Sincerely,
LiberalAndProud, et al
