So, Did Saddam Hussein Try to Kill Bush's Dad? |
|
Now that President George W. Bush's allegations about former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein's ties to al-Qaeda and ambitious weapons programs have been thoroughly discredited, another outstanding charge remains to be resolved. http://www.commondreams.org/headlines04/1019-05.htm

I was when Clinton was president, and Clinton responded militarily to the attempt.
It still is no excuse to invade in and of itself. Additionally, since successful military action was taken by Clinton, Iraq under Hussein was not since involved in terror activities.

It would appear the article has a different take.

Hersh's article really did tear huge holes thru the "he tried to kill my daddy" story. Have you read it? I have the link on file here somewhere...

5. Seymour Hersh in the New Yorker - "A Case Not Closed" |
|
http://www.newyorker.com/archive/content/?020930fr_archive02I just do not believe anything bush41 and/or bush43 say. Nothing. Not one damn thing. If they said the sky was blue, I'd know it was pink.

4. Shame we didn't have the Internet back then...... |
|
we could have probably gotten a much more critical analysis of the "evidence". Seymour Hersch isn't 100% convinced...that's good enough for me. Clinton was hounded by the Republicans to retaliate....the evidence was iffy, but he elected to move on it to keep the rabid right off his ass.

that the Bush family will continue to use extralegal means to subvert US policy when they're out of office.

7. Of course, it's ok for the president of the USA to target any other |
|
nation's leader for assassination.
Imagine if the Iraqis bombed Washington for bush's attempts to assassinate Iraq's president...let alone bush's illegal and unprovoked invasion & occupation of Iraq. Funny how anything is ok when it's us doing it to others...

8. Gerald Ford signed into law a prohibition against assassinating |
|
the leader of any other sovereign nation, in 1976. Iraq and Saddam Hussein counts in this. As usual, this particular law wasn't useful for Bush*, so he just ignored it.

9. He just tore up the Ford executive finding |
|
...and he's made sure no one will know about it, or be able to see any of his stuff, for eons.
Kerry can reverse all that. Hope he does.

10. I became aware of this, early on |

He has also totally trampled the Constitution. This scares me to death. What else do we have to protect us and our rights?! Our only hope is John Kerry. Jimmy Carter made a powerful statement, on just this issue, on Chris Matthews, tonight, but he's mellowed, as Matthews stated, but he's still very good and continues to tell us the truth. He said he hoped that Kerry would take this country in another direction, especially in our Middle East policy, or Bush* would acknowledge his mistakes and change course. As if...
