Lower and middleclass Republican mindset
At least where I live!
The workingman conservative male mindset can be boiled down to them not wanting to appear 'girlie'. Bottom line. I have seen this mentality all to often from the lower to middle class Republicans.

I think it has schoolyard roots, as a child, not wanting to throw 'like a girl' or 'You women' or 'Don't be a pussy'.

They think the Dems are the weak party and they are macho but of course this is pure brainwashed bullshit.

3. Indeed
Overheard a lovely conversation. Joe Sixpack republican endorsing * and threatening to put a bullet in both Kerry and Clinton's heads for "wanting shitpackers in the millitary".

As always, the Repugs can count on the racist, homophobic, wifebeater, and IQ-of-a-speedbump vote. I just wish that wasn't as large of a base as it is.

hardhats and lunchpails, came out in support of that crook on the Vietnam issue, leaving McGovern and the Democratic Party. Their trust in the Republicans was misplaced to say the least.Because of the Republican notions of dog eat dog,the entire steel industry was decimated in the next two decades with hundreds of thousands of steelworkers thrown out of work and entire counties in W.Va ,Ohio and Pennsylvania have become ghost towns. The same macho appeal is now being displayed by the lower and Middle class supporters of Bush including, unfortunately, the auto workers whose industry is collapsing in front of them even as I write.

I also believe that there is an element of racism involved here, their kick ass attitude is reserved for the darker skinned foreigners:Arabs, Japanese, Chinese, Vietnamese ,Mexicans etc.

5. Yet another fear they exploit...fear of being a sissy. And yet:
- have you seen Bush* throw a baseball? Good grief, TOTALLY the last guy to get picked for the team.

- does he have ANY medals? Did he go in to combat? Would you rather have Bush* or Kerry providing cover fire if you were stuck in a firefight in the middle of a street in Fallujah?

- a cowboy that's scared of HORSES?????

etc. etc.

7. Tried to vote yesterday
I couldn't because the line was too long. I noticed that there were two other cars with Kerry stickers, four with Bush stickers, and lots without any stickers. Three of the Bush cars were covered with anti-Kerry stickers, etcetera, and I noticed that - well - the drivers didn't have a lot to lose by covering their cars with stickers because the cars were old clunkers. What they think they're going to get out of this, I don't know.

12. These losers want to drag everyone else down to their level
This is the typical right-wing, white, male spite voter.

Spite voter:No one gonna tell ME what's best for me! I'm going to vote for Bush because he's wrong and everyone else will be as miserable a loser as me.

14. and pride goes before destruction, and a haughty spirit before the fall
that's why they commit suicide when the truth becomes too overwhelmingly obvious for them to be able to ignore.

the era of the angry white male is in its death throes.

11. I think you are correct sir
That's where all this macho-strutting, women-hating, fake- ranching, "bring-'em-on" "dead-or-alive" bullshit comes from. He's pandering to that (unfortunately) large slice of the voting public. The man's no more a real man than I am.

and his repugnant friends... in the words of Ron Reagan, Jr: "They get to pick the shrimp shells out of the carpet after the party is over". Now, that's a girly man!
