Black Hawk down, 14 US troops killed
Iraqi Resistance Fighters were successful yesterday in downing a US Black Hawk during fierce fighting that occurred in the area of “Duwailiba” to the south west of the Iraqi capital.

The fighting began when the Resistance Fighters ambushed a convoy consisting of 8 armored vehicles by detonating 3 IED’s destroying 1 Bradley vehicle and 1 Hummer.

A Black Hawk was called in to support the US troops, whereupon it was later fired at and downed by the Resistance Fighters using a “C5K” missile.

In total the fighting lasted for 90 minutes during which 14 US troops were killed and 6 wounded.

The Iraqi Resistance suffered losses of 8 fighters...

This story is based on reports filed by non-western reporters on the ground in the locations mentioned, as opposed to US military approved reporters barricaded in a hotel in Baghdad, so it is not suitable for the news forum.

The reporters who file the these stories do not even attend US military briefings. They are spread out all over Iraq in areas where it would be too dangerous to have a US military briefing.

These reports are not vetted by US military censors, and the reporters consistently disregard US cover bans and engage in unauthorized entry into areas that have been declared closed military zones by the US.

8. How STRANGE for you to say that!
That was EXACTLY the phrase that went through
my head this morning- the minute I opened my eyes.
Word for word.
Carl Jung and the collective consciousness, eh?

20. That phrase has been stuck in my head for the duration of the
* Administration.

And yeah, I am all for chalking it up to the collective consciousness. What say we worm our way into the collective subconsciuosness and start telling * what to do? *g*

2. Their inside track on Russian unfiltered field intel's gone.
These reports are not exactly reliable.

Then again neither are most US news reports. Still.

13. when you click the link, you will see that this story is not from Russia

It is echoed on a Russian site, but the source is Islam Memo, whose reporters, as I said in the disclaimer, routinely disregard US military bans on press coverage, including the reporting of casualties, and their reporters are on the ground in Iraq, some may have never been to the Baghdad Sheraton in their lives.

They stories are NOT vetted or authorized by US military press officers, and are frequently based on observation of events that take place in areas declared off-limits to journalists.

Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 10:55 AM by Eloriel
"major combat operations" were over by May 2003. So I guess these are just continuing "minor combat operations."

What a shame that all these minor combat operations have taken more lives than the major combat operations.

I wish I could figure out a good way out of this; even if Kerry does get elected it's going to be nasty, with many more deaths.

7. The official fascist report cannot say 14 killed at one time,
it wouldn't look good on the nooz. Wait and watch, there will be deaths of 2s, 3s, 4s, and maybe even 5s over the next three or four days - with most coming late Friday. It's the fascist information management style. And the American public goes right along smiling at their mirror saying "How do you do? No,no; how do you do?"

Hey Duct, been a while. :hi:

18. The story has not been vetted by US military censors, se post 13

and the disclaimer in the original post.

Full text transcripts of US military briefings are available at centom.mil

All authorized and vetted news stories come from information released at these briefings.

23. I would expect a photo to confirm this
Digital cameras are not so hard to get even for Iraqi fighters. A downed Blackhawk would be posted on the Net in no time.

25. It is too dangerous. Especially since the US banned them

if one of these reporters were seized and had a camera, it would be a lot harder for him to pass himself off as whatever the crusader would be less likely to murder or send off to an "interrogation facility."

Same thing if he happened to run into some suspicious Resistance commander without a lot of experience.

Occasionally, a video or a photo does get out, and you are correct, it is immediately posted on the internet, but this is done more for the benefit of westerners. The Iraqis don't really need photos or videos, and as you can see from the muted reaction to the Abu Ghraib pics, they don't make much of a ripple in the west either.

Bush could roast and eat Muslim babies live on CNN and the next day both Internet and airwaves would ring with lively and heated debate on whether they should have just cut to Aaron Brown smilingly speculating on whether the Texas-bred Bush would add salsa.

Why should anybody put their life at greater risk for that?

Each day our men or women are killed in Iraq we should send a message to the White House with the death count. Let the scumbugs, we are aware of the attrocities they are supporting.
