Freeper co-worker thinks O'Reilly was set up
Basically, he thinks this woman is trying to set O'Reilly up and that the restaurant guy that said she had a crush on O'Reilly proves it.

Is he barking up the wrong tree?

And, is O'Reilly married?

10. Not to defend my co-worker
But, I am guessing that he is thinking of it as a "jilted lover seeks revenge" type of thing. I'll try to talk to him again tomorrow. Maybe mention that O'Reilly admitted to something 'stupid' on his radio show...

...and unless they have TAPE, they're definitely woofing up the wrong tree. I don't think they have a tape. Who covered this story? Murdoch's Post, that's who. See a pattern? Talk about a sleazebag, talk about a desperate move!

6. Does anyone have a problem seeing
O'Reilly as a hypocritical sleazeball? 'Cause I don't. He looks just like a guy who would try to impress you with some deep idealogical/political point while taking non-subtle glances down your blouse.

He's also the type of idiot who says, "Prove to me I'm lying." And then people prove to him he's lying. His balls are bigger than his brain. I think we should start a countdown to when Fox starts to cut him loose. And then throw a party when it happens.

4. Set up HOW?
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 02:42 PM by Eloriel
Either he did that stuff, or he didn't. I haven't heard of him denying it even once, anywhere, have you? Just complaining about being "a target" because he's so famous, dontchaknow.

Are you saying that your "freeper friend" thinks she MADE HIM DO IT? That it's all her fault (common narcissist/sociopathic perp distracting/take the offensive claim, btw)?

I repeat: either he did all that or he didn't. Unless he thinks she made him do it (unlikely to impossible), where exactly is the set up?

Edited to add: Not very many women are self-destructive enough to file false charges about sexual predators -- whether sexual harrassment, rape, etc. The firestorm they evoke by DARING to confront their assailants, almost always including the most vicious attacks on their credibility imaginable AND revelations about their past sexual history, takes a great deal of courage from women who actually have been wronged. Again, not many women go through that for FALSE charges.

Further, have you read the complaint? I haven't, but I have read snippets. She has numerous word-for-word quotations in there. It's not impossible to make that shit up, but it's unlikely, IMO.

8. does your freeper friend think clinton was set up too?
i thought not. and clinton had a consensual (although innapropriate) relationship with monica.

o'reilly is in a position of power and used his power to attempt to extort sexual favors. wrong and illegal.

24. I don't think freepers understand the whole "consensual" concept, sadly.
These are people who learned everything they needed to know about relations with women from Ross Jeffries and Penthosue letters, after all...

Seduced him with her wily ways, no doubt. pooooooor Bill.

As for his non-denial denials: they're pretty damning. Something about (via his lawyer, no less) he didn't do anything that went so far as to break the law. mmmmHMMmm.

12. O'Reily WAS setup
He set himself up by being an idiot. He admitted to what he did and said he was stupid.
This guy is really a nobody. He thought he was really a big time player in this world and it got the best of them. They get their asses kissed while they are shills for certain people and then they think that they really ARE important and they can get away with anything. He isn't a very smart individual and he did something that got him in trouble. He is no different than Rush. Just shills that are being used by the people with money and power and when it is said and done they will be on their own.

that way, when the case goes to court, O'Reilly can use the media and claim that the "stories" about the set-up are true

25. Yeah, well I think Clinton was set up.
In the movie version of "The Hunting of the President" there is a statement to the effect that since Starr failed to get the Clintons on financial grounds, the only way they could get him would be through his weakness for women.

And . . . didn't Lewinsky work at the Pentagon?

Who sent her?

27. Lewinsky
no, she didn't work for the Pentagon, that was that bitch that turned her in, Linda Tripp. Lewinski was an intern, i.e., a volunteer. Normally they don't even get close to the oval office, but since the government was shut down for a few days, Lewinski and a few other interns were being used to keep the office running.

31. "Da bitch set me up!" Guess who just got deposed? JOHN FUND!!!
Edited on Wed Oct-20-04 07:55 PM by TheSubliminableKid
John Fund was finally deposed yesterday in the matter of Morgan Pillsbury v. John H. Fund.

Ms. Pillsbury had Fund arrested a couple years back for beating her up (see http://www.americanpolitics.com/20020223Fund.html).

Anyone heard any rumblings about the Fund depo? I hope it was taped. It could provide even more eye-opening than the Mackris tapes (I'm sure they must, um, er, exist, if you can take a, um, hint).

36. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this before...
but this morning, O'Reilly's lawyer was all over the morning "news" shows claiming this woman was "extorting" him. My first question was why didn't O'Reilly go to the police then? Why didn't his lawyer? If someone I knew was trying to extort money from me I know I'd be going to the nearest police precinct to make a report. Or is there a reason that O'Reilly and his lawyer never did this? It seems to me a possible criminal prosecution would carry more leverage with an alleged extortionist than trying to prosecute a civil claim of extortion against them.

That said, I really wasn't suprised when I heard this suit come out because even though I'm not old agewise, I've known enough people to know that the biggest bloviators about morality and behavior are the ones who are the biggest freaks once they close their bedroom doors.

37. My guess
My guess is if somebody asks that question of O'Lielly's attorney, he will say that they did not want to go through the public spectacle that a case like this would cause. Just a guess.

Again, just playing devil's advocate here.

My Freeper co-worker isn't going to believe anything short of audio or video tape, and then still might claim the tapes were doctored if O'Reilly says that they were.
