Vatican duped by anti-Kerry lawyer |
|
http://story.news.yahoo.com/news?tmpl=story&u=/nm/20041020/pl_nm/campaign_kerry_vatican_dcIt seems that Kerry NOT a heretic after all. http://www.nytimes.com/2004/10/20/politics/campaign/20catholic.html?oref=login&pagewanted=print&positionThe Catholic News Service also quoted an unnamed Vatican official as saying Mr. Kerry was not about to be excommunicated because "you can incur excommunication" automatically "only if you procure or perform an abortion." This could be BIG with the Catholic vote.

1. Catholics (myself included) |

are just like everyone else with different concerns than just one issue. Some Catholics care alot about the abortion issue, some don't. As many would say the Church was unreasonable about "excommunication" as would blame Kerry, probably more so.

and I don't hardly recognize the Church anymore. There are the OLD Catholics, who go to church on Sunday, and still believe what they want to; and these NEW ones, who look and act more like Fundie Protestants that the Catholics that I used to know. I am drawn more to Buddhism every day--These monotheists(Christian, Jew, Muslim) all can't seem to wait to kill one another.

are alot more tied to the corporate structure in America. They are much more conservative and from that, a core of them are rightwing. I've noticed as well. Myself, I'm not looking for anything really, as I see warts on many religions these days.
