Ohmygod. Could NPR suck more ass? TX'ans have worst credit ratings b/c...
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 11:04 AM by AP
they're more "relaxed" about paying their bills. "They're younger." That's according to NPR's Morning Edition.

Mind you, this is coming from the "reporter's mouth" -- citing no facts or no experts opinions.

It doesn't have anything to do with the fact that they don't have money. (Thank you Republicans for creating an environment where Enron is your example of Texas corporate responsibility.)

Oh, and relax. Don't pay your credit card bills on time. It's a sign of how young and cool you are. Think of those late fees as the low cost of showing people what you're really all about: being young and cool.

1. Maybe they're relaxed because they're uneducated and can't
find jobs.

2. Actually it sums up the policies of * he lives large on taxpayer credit

(note: in all seriousness I feel bad for the Texans who struggle with bills)

3. My cousin works for the FDIC, and he says that Texas has the worst
default rate for savings and loans in the country. I have heard the same about individual credit ratings in Texas. In the latter case, I think it's because the state allows more predatory lending, and has deregulated the mortgage market to the point that lower income people get their pockets cleaned out by these lenders. It all boils down to the regulation, folks. I can't believe NPR--they really are pushing the "poor people are lazy, stupid, etc." meme a lot lately.

4. No wage garnishment, unlimited homestead exemption
makes it easier to not pay if you have debt problems. Its actually a haven for folks who have debt problems. If you are a Ken Lay type, and are in trouble but rich, just move to Texas buy a $10 million house for cash, go bankrupt and keep your house.

8. Morning Edition is shit.
The problem is that NPR is ultimately a state job, and the state policy is "fascism, ho!" We'll get it back once we unseat these criminals from office.

9. They're ultimately a corporate job (as is the state right now).
And the corporate policy is "fascism, ho!"

12. I'm optimistic that you're right.
The only thing preventing a Kerry landslide will be some crooked dealings those traitors sneak under our radar, but I'm not convinced that that is a possibility.

14. Yeah. Hard work is what Texans will be doing for the rest of their lives..
...never saving anything for themselves while they make sure lenders stay rich.

...but I'm cutting way back, and, thanks to NPR, my bullshit detector has been running at maximum capacity for a couple years now. It needs a rest. I need a rest.
