I've read various articles over the past few years about how some right-wing fundamentalist groups are calling for secession from the US. There are a number of websites devoted to this (http://christianexodus.org/ for one example), and I'm sure the outcome of the election will fuel this debate (considering John Kerry "the liberal" will be our next president).

I don't know about anyone else but I'm starting to think maybe this isn't such a bad idea. Maybe then they can leave our country and our Constitution alone. And since there won't be any "liberals" in this new country to fight for civil rights, labor laws, education, health care, welfare, etc. and since these fundies have no use for science, foreign diplomacy, or environmental conservation, I figure it won't be too long before this new country becomes a third-world monarchy that doesn't pose much of a threat to the rest of the world.

Okay, so maybe it won't happen quite that way but it's fun to think about! I even have a few ideas for a country name and some founding principles:

Name: Bushland or Fundieland
Where everything is a sin but nothing is a crime.
Where it's every man for himself and every woman should keep her mouth shut.
Where the Bible is the Constitution unless it gets in the way of making money.
Where justice knows no color because well, there won't be anyone of color here (not even you Alan Keyes).
Where every unborn child has a right to life because we need somebody to fight and die in our illegal wars.

4. I've thought about this myself

In my mind it was always called "Freeperia".

In Freeperia gun ownership is mandatory whne someone reaches puberty, otherwise they cannot legally be considered "a man".

The Freeprian economy is not very robust. Unemplyment is rampant, since there is far too much competition for the most common job-being a stupid bigot. The secondmost common job has an extremely high unfilled position rate, because it requires an education-dentistry. However, the demand for dentists in Freeperia is not to repair teeth as it is elsewhere; it is to break and remove parts of teeth, especially the front teeth, since this makes spitting tobacco juice easier.

The Freeperians are concerned with cultural activities too, and have a National Institute for the Arts. The most popular work of art is entitled "1968 LTD on Concrete Blocks in a Front Yard". This has been such a popular work that all Freeperians have a copy. Also popular is the black velvet painting entitled "Elvis".

The Freeperian language has a dialect based on English called Freeperian. In Freeperian consonants are softened, and vowel pairs always have the second vowel dropped. Words are not allowed to have more than 2 sylllables. Freeperian can best be spoken by the novice by talking with a mouth full of tobacco.

Freeperia uses a form offundamentalist domionist Calvinist Christianity for a state religion. All citizens are required to be saved, after which all past and future crimes are forgiven. This results in what would normally be considered a high crime rate in Freeperia, however the crimes are almost always unenforced, owing to the fact that saved Freeperians cannot by defition sin, and therefore anything they do once they are saved is acceptable. Travelling to Freeperia is therefore inadvisable for noncitizens, as any action is likely to be considered a crime, unless the traveller is a member of the First Church of Freeperia. There are only two punishments for a crime in Freeperia: a choice of stoning, or conversion to the First Church of Freeperia. Stoning is usually selected.

6. Not sure on the actual location

I think that one site I had a link for wanted South Carolina. I don't know how thrilled the SC liberals would be. I'm from Illinois and, even though I love Chicago, I'd be happy to give them this state. I'd volunteer to move if it meant life without freepers.
