Send Jon Stewart a message.
Edited on Thu Oct-21-04 11:54 AM by familydoctor
There's an effort out there to get Jon Stewart to endorse Kerry. Personally, I don't want him to endorse anyone. However, if you want
to send Jon a message of support/thanks, this will probably make it
across his desk.

1. If Jon Stewart endorses Kerry, his job as a satirist is over.

5. Let's see the election comes down to the weed or Kerry
Jon Stewart is an intelligent man - of course he chose Kerry!

8. We know that. We know his views.
He's just more useful and effective if he keeps them on the down-lo.

12. I disagree!
He is honest about his views and the irony of the situation is that his show is aired on a comedy station and is satire, yet its contents are more belieavable than the cable/mainstream news.

His programs have not been challenged (unlike Faux & CNN) because of partisian contents.

It is time folks feel free to profess their believes!

2. Well he sort of did
He announced he was voting for Kerry last week I think. I don't know that it was an "endorsement," but he said he would vote for him.

3. He actually announced that a few months back too...
I thought I might have misheard, but if he said it again, then there ya go. Is there really any doubt anyway?

4. Yep, he did
Jon Stewart Hands Vote to Kerry

Saying "it looks like Kerry," Comedy Central host Jon Stewart said he expects to vote for Sen. John Kerry for president.

"I'd be stunned if something happened to change my mind," said the host of the popular TV show.

...

While saying that President Bush is a "decent" man, Stewart lampooned him for saying during a presidential debate that he couldn't name one of his mistakes.

"He can't think of one?" Stewart asked. "I got a list."

6. Bill Maher too.
Bill voted for Nader in 2000. He's voting for Kerry this time he said.

9. Is he aware that Wal-Mart refuses to carry his book?
I would think that, if he "mentioned it" on his show, without actually calling for a boycott, thousands of educated intellectuals will cease shopping at Wal-Mart.

Of course, Wal-Mart wouldn't get any "new" customers from that mention, since the Bushbots would have already boycotted The Daily Show and not known about the mention.

10. Stewart ripped on Walmart
ads a while back. I think he should go after 'em on this. It would be funny and as you said it might lead some to not shop there.
