The White House has announced that Bush will be taking the day off on Saturday. Jeez, I wonder why?

It's not the event itself which should be of concern, but rather how the media plays it.
They'll be drooling all over themselves, believe me.
And yes, this type of stunt will garner more than a few votes among the great unwashed electorate.

5. If he does, it will prove to me that ... |

the Sinclair thing was supposed to be their real October Surprise, but since that's turning out to be an embarrassing thud of a lead balloon, they have to try something else. It's simply risky for him to go over there. It would actually be irresponsible of him to go over there, since things are just getting more volatile and the "Green Zone" has been hit, but since he's not really running the country, it's not like he's endangering anything important (i.e. his life). I would feel bad for his staffers and handlers, however.
I think Rove is so desperate he would send W into harms' way. It's a win-win proposition for Rove. Either * makes it back safely and they can say that the reporters are just focusing on the bad stuff and things are really just fine, because after all, * was there and nothing happened or something happens to * and they might get a sympathy vote or two which would install Cheney as Pres. Either way. Works for them.
That being said, however, this stunt has been pulled. It's played. I honestly doubt it would do them any good at all. It might make some who are going to vote to * anyway happy, but as far as the election goes, it's a waste of time.

Using our troops, yet again, for a publicity stunt. Fucking totally disgusting. This dickhead has to go back to Texas.

9. On second thought, the Mother Of All Photo-ops might be an good idea! |
|
For one thing, most people aren't going to give a damn about a visit to the troops. Let's face it, anyone who's not already a drooling Bushbot is going to see this for the naked electioneering that it is.
More importantly, it will require flying across many time zones at odd hours for Chimpy, and we all know how he needs to be in bed at home every night by 9:00. This will fuck up his body clock, throw his sleep pattern off and make him tired and scratchy and grumpy for the last week of the campaign.
Who knows, he might even catch the flu.

12. Keeping him locked away from the press |
|
when something big goes down.
They're afraid when they pull off their next stunt, Debate Boy won't be able to remember the answers, so they're locking him away in Crawford.
What might happen that they're so worried about the press questions he can't answer?

14. Does anyone else think the number of days Bush has been out |
|
of the White House on the campaign trail indicate that he is not doing his existing job. If Clinton had been out this much he would have been skewered by the press. Really now, why does he have so much time on his hands?
He kept telling us in the first debate that "this is such hard work, its really hard, I work really hard". When?

15. Joint US/Israeli air strike against Iran's nuclear facilities |
|
The Chimp has to stay close the WH Situation Center to "look presidential", make sure the strike goes at planned and to spin away any adverse consequences.
This would THE perfect date to pull this off.
Any adverse consequences to the Chimp or the US would be deferred until after the election.
--- US oil markets would be closed until Monday.
--- Iranian retaliation against US forces in Iraq and the Persian Gulf would not be immediate - and any reporting of Iranian attacks would be vigorously suppressed by Rumseld and Co until after Nov. 3.
--- If need be, any admission of cooperation between the US and Israel could be denied ad infinitum.
Kerry would have his hands COMPLETELY tied.
He could not criticize the Chimp.
He could not criticize Israel.
The Whore Press would turn the strikes into a 24/7 Chimpfest.
Kerry would be completely shut out of the limelight.
The Chimp's approval ratings and poll numbers would temporally soar.
The Perfect Rovian Powerplay...
Or maybe not.....:)
